SCDHEC COVID Update Oct. 7, 2020

On Wednesday, (Oct. 7) the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC) reported 556 new confirmed cases and 118 new probable cases of the novel coronavirus COVID-19. DHEC also reported 27 additional confirmed deaths and 6 new probable deaths related to COVID.

Anderson County reported 27 new cases and one death.
Greenville County reported 43 new cases, three probable cases and six deaths related to COVID.

This brings the total number of confirmed cases to 148,334, probable cases to 5,371 since the first case was reported March 6. Total confirmed deaths related to COVID are 3,300, and 202 probable deaths.

There are 707 COVID patients in hospitals. Of those 183 are in ICU and 93 on ventilators.

The total number of individual test results reported to DHEC Tuesday statewide was 4,309 (not including antibody tests) and the percent positive was 12.9%.
