R. Lindy Moore, Marian Cain, Ruth Ann Pletcher, Margaret Williams, Margaret Holcombe, Roger Reeves, Angie Lollis, Bobby McDonald, Donna Davis

Donna Davis

Donna Jean Reid Davis of Pelzer, 61, wife of the late Kenneth Ray “Kenny” Davis, passed away Tuesday, March 2, 2021.

Born in Williamston, she was a daughter of the late Julius Edward and Evelyn Lucille Masters Reid. She retired from Cushman Plant and was a member of Bethel Church of God of the Abrahamic Faith.

 She is survived by a daughter, Rachel Davis Black of the home; sister, Susan Reid Richard of Hammond, LA.

Visitation will be held Thursday, March 4, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Gray Mortuary.

The service will be Friday, March 5, at 11:00 a.m. in the mortuary chapel, with burial to follow at Bethel Church of God of the Abrahamic Faith Cemetery.

Due to Covid-19, the family requests that masks be worn and social distancing observed.

The family is at the home.

Bobby McDonald

Bobby Lane McDonald of Easley, 34, husband of Jessica Nason McDonald, passed away Friday, February 26, 2021.

Born in Greenville, he was the son of the late William Bennett McDonald and Patricia Wydner of Easley. He was an assistant network administrator with the City of Anderson and a member of Rock Springs Baptist Church. 

In addition to his wife and mother he is survived by  his daughter, Berkeley Jade McDonald of the home; siblings, Patricia Ross, Elizabeth Weidman, William Asa McDonald; and step-siblings, Janet Gatewood, Carrie Merck, and Burl Sean McDonald.

Visitation was held March 2 at Rock Springs Baptist Church, Easley. The service followed at 3:00, with burial in the church cemetery.

Angie Lollis

Angela “Angie” Karen Hudson Lollis of Piedmont, 56, passed away Saturday, February 27, 2021.

Born in Anderson County, she was a daughter of Mary Louise McCuen Hudson and the late John Thomas Hudson.  

In addition to her mother of Anderson, she is survived by daughters, Brooke Branyon of Anderson and Ashley Moore of Simpsonville; brothers, Tony Hudson of Pelzer and Todd Hudson of Williamston; sisters, Pam Craine of Pelzer, Kristie Hicks of Simpsonville, Tammy McClain of Piedmont; and 8 grandchildren.

The family will hold a private memorial service at the home of Brooke Branyon at a later date.

Roger Reeves

Roger Dale Reeves of Piedmont, 72, passed away Wednesday, February 24, 2021.

Born in Pelzer, he was the son of Bessie Lee Fletcher Reeves and the late Robert Erskine Reeves.  He was a member of Unity Presbyterian Church in Piedmont.

In addition to his mother of Piedmont, he is survived by a sister, Shelia Wyatt of Easley.

Visitation was  held March 1, at Unity Presbyterian Church with the funeral service following at the church. Burial was at Woodlawn Memorial Park.

Margaret Holcombe

Margaret Marie Cole Holcombe of Pelzer, 75, wife of Floyd “Mike” Holcombe, passed away Friday, February 26, 2021.

   Born in Pelzer, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Annelle Roberts Cole. She retired from Woodmont Middle School and was a member of Pelzer Church of God.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by sons, Steven Holcombe of Pelzer and Terry Holcombe of the home; two grandsons and one great-grandson. 

Visitation was March 3, at Gray Mortuary, with the service to follow at 11:00 in the mortuary chapel.

Burial will be held Tuesday, March 9 at 10:30 a.m. at M.J. “Dolly” Cooper Veterans Cemetery.

Margaret Williams

Margaret Lou Williams Williams of Piedmont, 84, wife of Milford Thomas Williams passed away Saturday, February 27, 2021.

Born in Augusta, GA, she was a daughter of the late George V. and Mattie Wilbanks Williams.  She was a homemaker and a member of The Carpenter’s House Church, Powdersville.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Betty Ann Lackey and Thomas Williams both of Piedmont; brothers, Bob Williams of Williamston and John Williams of Pelzer; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and niece, Sara Cape.

The funeral was March 3, at noon at The Carpenter’s House Church with visitation preceding the service.  Burial followed at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Anderson.

Ruth Ann Pletcher

Williamston – Ruth Ann Mayfield Pletcher, 70, wife of Gary E. Pletcher, passed away Tuesday, February 23, 2021.

   Born in Pelzer, she was a daughter of the late John Thomas and Qu Miller Scott Mayfield. She retired from Michelin after 31 years of service.

   In addition to her husband, she is survived by children, Jimmy Richardson (Tonya) of Piedmont, Joey Richardson (Jennifer Sexton) of Williamston, Lara Whiteside (Larry) of Cook, MN, and Mickey Pletcher (Ashley) of Frederick, MD; siblings, Jean Erwin (Robert) of Belton, Joan Medlock (George) of Honea Path, and Patsy Land (Bobby) of Williamston; 15 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by a sister, Elizabeth “Libby” Campbell.

Visitation was held from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Friday, February 26, at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer.

   The funeral service followed at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 27, in the mortuary chapel.

   In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children, 950 W. Faris Road, Greenville, SC 29605 or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

The family is at the home.

Marian Cain 

Marian A. Cain, age 87, of Williamston, wife to the late Charles M. Cain, passed away Saturday, February 27, 2021, at her residence. 

Born September 26, 1933, in Anderson Co., SC, she was the daughter of the late J.D. Alewine and the late Vera Hall Alewine. 

She was formerly employed with the Scott Shirt Plant. She was a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church. 

She is survived by her children, Cathy C. Taylor, and Dennis C. Cain; two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.  

A graveside service was held at South Lawn Memorial Gardens on March 2. 

Flowers will be accepted, and memorial contributions may be made to Anderson Cancer Society, 215 E. Calhoun St., Anderson, SC 29621.

R. Lindy Moore

Piedmont – Rufus Linberg “R. Lindy” Moore, 93, husband of the late Patricia Ann Mauldin Moore, passed away Saturday, February 27, 2021.

Born in Piedmont, he was the son of the late Adam Frank and Lelia Norris Moore. He retired as a farmer and was a member of Mountain Springs Baptist Church.

 The last surviving member of his immediate family, he is survived by several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service was held Wednesday, March 3 at 11:00 a.m. at Shiloh United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family received friends following the service.

Due to Covid-19, the family requests that masks be worn and social distancing observed.
