A runoff to determine the winner of the race for the District Two County Council seat vacated by the recent death of Gracie Floyd, who held the seat for two decades, will take place next Tuesday, April 13.
Glenn Davis, who garnered 208 of the 550 votes cast, nevertheless failed to secure the fifty per cent plus one vote needed to avoid a runoff. In a crowded field of seven candidates, no one reached that threshold. Next week’s runoff will be between the two top vote getters, Davis and Marian A. Robinson, who got 118 votes.
The outcome of this election will determine the Democratic nominee that will be on the ballot in June and will face Republican David Standard. Standard was the only Republican Candidate that filed to run for the office.
