Harold  James Mackey, Nancy Stunger, Nancy Cothran, Jacquelyn Ora Ward Forrester, Cathy Cain Taylor

Cathy Cain Taylor 

Cathy Cain Taylor, 69, of Williamston, passed away Sunday, May 30, 2021, at AnMed Health Medical Center. 

She was born December 13, 1951, in Anderson, and was the daughter of the late Charles M. Cain and Marian Alewine Cain. 

She worked for Stringer Oil Company before working at Sullivan Hardware. She was a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church. 

She is survived by her daughter, Brandi Perez (Angel); brother, Dennis Cain; four grandchildren. 

A memorial service was held Sunday, June 6, at the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home.

Jacquelyn Ora Ward Forrester 

Jacquelyn Ora Ward Forrester, 89, a resident of the Piercetown Community, widow of John Thomas Forrester, Jr., passed away Friday, June 4, 2021, at the Rainey Hospice House.

Born in Newnan, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Hiram Jackson and Ora Morgan Ward. She was a graduate of McCormick High School and earned her LPN in 1976 at Anderson Memorial Hospital. She was a retired Licensed Practical Nurse and was a homemaker. She was a member of Friendship Baptist Church.

She is survived by a daughter, Margaret F. Eaves; two sons, Jack Forrester and John T. Forrester III; nine grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.

A private family graveside service will be held.

Nancy Cothran

Nancy Elaine Sullivan Cothran of Belton, 78, wife of W.A. “Bill” Cothran, passed away Monday, June 7, 2021.

Born in Greenville, she was a daughter of the late Ralph and Ethel Elaine Eskew Sullivan. She retired from Havertys Furniture.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by sons, Steve Scruggs of Gaffney, Keith Cothran of Belton and Danny Cothran of Belton; brother, Ed Sullivan of Greer; sister, Peggy Arndt of Greer; eleven grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, June 10, at Washington Baptist Church. The family will receive friends after the service.

Nancy Stunger

Nancy Ann VanHorn Moore Stunger of Piedmont, 85, passed on Sunday, June 6, 2021.

She was twice married, first to the late Claude Moore then to the late Edward Stunger. WV, she was a daughter of the late Emerson and Lorena Fern Lawson VanHorn. She retired as a Registered Nurse, having been employed with St. Francis Hospital and Greenville General Hospital and Bigelow – Sanford.

She was a member of West Gantt First Baptist Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Cynthia Kay Watkins of Belton; sons, Steve Moore of Greenville and Ralph David Moore of Jacksonville, FL; sister, Carol Dean of Hodges; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. 

A graveside service will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 10, at Greenville Memorial Gardens.

   Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Palmetto Bible Camp, 140 Fall Creek Road, Marietta, SC 29661.

Harold  James Mackey

Dr. Harold James Mackey was born on June 22, 1933 and passed away June 2, 2021. He was the son of the late Iver Mackey, Sr. and Louise Fair Mackey and the last surviving member of his immediate family. Dr. Mackey was a retired local, state, and nationally recognized educator of 40 years with Anderson School District 2. He received The “Order of the Palmetto” South Carolina’s highest civilian award on June 9, 1996. Dr. Mackey was elected as the first African American council member and served from 1976 to 2001 on Williamston Town Council. He was Mayor Pro Tempore for the majority of the time. 

He was a member of New Prospect Missionary Baptist Church. He was married to the late Bobbie Mattison Mackey of Williamston.  

He leaves to celebrate his life a loving and devoted daughter, Harriette.

A Celebration of Life for Dr. Mackey will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, June 11, 2021 at New Prospect Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery, Williamston, with Pastor Darrin K. Johnson, Sr. and Pastor S.A. Mattison, officiating. Public viewing will be Thursday from 1:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the Williamston branch, Unity Mortuary. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at the mortuary. The family request that all cards and letters of condolences please be so kind to bring them to the mortuary.
