Annie Stanton

Annie Elizabeth Burton Stanton of Piedmont, 87, wife of the late James Robert Stanton, passed away Friday, June 25, 2021.

Born in Westminster, she was a daughter of the late Garnett and Dora Freeman Burton. She retired from Gerber Childrenswear and was a member of Emmanuel Full Gospel Tabernacle.

Survivors include her daughters, Beverly Smith, of Piedmont and Kathy Davis of Pelzer; four grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.

Visitation was held on June 28 at Gray Mortuary. The funeral followed in the mortuary chapel, with burial at Pine Lawn Cemetery.

   Memorials may be made to the Greenville County Animal Care, 328 Furman Hall Road, Greenville, SC  29609.

James “Jimmy” Rudolph Carter

Pelzer – James “Jimmy” Rudolph Carter, 71, resident of Law St., died Wednesday June 23, 2021 at his residence.

 Born on May 17, 1950 in Anderson County to the late James Hoyt and Eda Mae Elgin Carter, he served in the United States Army in Vietnam and was disabled due to Agent Orange. He worked in maintenance for different apartment complexes.

 He was a member of Rockvail Baptist Church in Greenville and formerly served as Co Director of Children’s Church.

 Surviving are a special cousin, Darlene Canup of Pelzer; a son, James Rudolph Carter, Jr. of Anderson; his daughters, Margaret Ann Lollis of Piedmont, Wendy Lijh Blackshire of Greenville, and Rachel Patty of Greenville; 5 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brother, Walter Lee Carter, and his sister, Patricia Ann Mitchell.

 Graveside services were conducted Saturday at 1:00 PM from Belton City Cemetery with Rev. Norman Black officiating. 

 The family is at their respective homes.

Linda Motte

Linda Joy Williams Land Motte of Pelzer, 79, widow of William Eddie Motte, passed away Thursday, June 24, 2021.

She was twice married, first to the late James Randolph Land.

Born in Enoree, she was the daughter of the late Walter Wideman and Agnes Grace Buckner Williams. She was a member of Pelzer First Baptist Church, a former secretary at Williamston First Baptist Church and retired as secretary from White Plains Baptist Church. 

Survivors include son, James Anthony “Tony” Land of Pelzer; stepdaughter, Rita Annette Evatt of Williamston; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

A graveside service was held June 28 at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

Louis DiGirolamo

Louis Anthony “Lou” DiGirolamo of Pelzer, 79, husband of Jean Audrey Winkler DiGirolamo, passed away Sunday, June 27, 2021.

Born in Schenectady, NY, he was the son of the late Contino and Mary Ottati DiGirolamo. He retired from General Electric and was a member of Augusta Road United Methodist Church.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Rosemary DiGirolamo and Donna Lynn DiGirolamo Tooley, both of Schenectady, NY, Joseph DiGirolamo and Valene DiGirolamo, both of Jacksonville, NC, Ron Genre of Guilderland, NY, and Michelle Smith of Pelzer; and four grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held in Scotia, NY at a lster date.  The family respectfully requests that flowers be omitted and memorials may be made to Augusta Road United Methodist Church, 8324 Augusta Road, Pelzer, SC 29669.

Pete Davis

Johnny Pete Davis of Pelzer, 73, husband of Lorena “Rena” Ayers Darby Davis, passed away Sunday, June 27, 2021.

Born in Honea Path, he was a son of the late Richard Ervin and Vera Odell Kirby Davis. He retired from C.P.W. in Greer. He was a member of White Plains Baptist Church, Princeton Masonic Lodge and a Gideon.

 In addition to his wife, he is survived by sister, Janet McCoy; brother, Mike Davis.

Visitation will be from 12:30 to 2:00 pm Saturday, July 3 at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer. The service will follow at 2:00 pm in the mortuary chapel. Burial will be at Greenville Memorial Gardens.

Memorials may be made to the Pelzer Rescue Squad, 125 Hwy. 20, Pelzer, SC 29669.

Janie Sanders

Janie Louise Clardy Sanders of Williamston, 80, wife of the late David Clayborne “Dickie” Sanders, passed away Wednesday, June 23, 2021.

Born in Williamston, she was a daughter of the late Marvin Clarence and Ruby Lee Dunlap Clardy. She retired from Mohawk Mill and was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church.

She is survived by daughters, Lynn S. Corum of Anderson and Kelley S. Atkins of Pelzer; brother, Dendy Clardy of Anderson; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation was held on June 27, at Gray Mortuary. The service followed in the mortuary chapel, with burial at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

Billy Bridwell

Billy Harold “Wild Bill” Bridwell of Piedmont, 71, husband of Deborah Elaine “Debbie” Turpin Bridwell, passed away Thursday, June 24, 2021.

Born in Pelham, he was a son of the late Henry Eugene and Merzie Smith Bridwell. A veteran of the U.S. Navy, he retired from BIC and was a Baptist.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Rachel Norris, Rebekah Howard both of Greer, Josh Stegall, Justin Bridwell and Emili Bridwell all of Piedmont; and six grandchildren.

The last surviving member of his immediate family.

A graveside service was held on Monday, June 28, at Greenville Memorial Gardens.

Dora Adams

Piedmont – Dora Ruth King “Dodie” Adams, 78, wife of James Coy Adams, passed away Monday, June 28, 2021.

Born in Anderson County, she was a daughter of the late John Drury and Helen Elizabeth Ross King. A Registered Nurse, she retired from the state of South Carolina where she worked for Anderson School District One, as well as several doctors’ offices and hospitals. Mrs. Adams participated in the Anderson Jayceettes and was a member of Mount Pisgah Baptist Church, where she served as WMU Leader, taught Sunday School and GA’s, and served on multiple mission trips, traveling to Africa, Puerto Rico, and Ecuador. 

In addition to her husband, she is survived by daughter, Sherree Crawford (Alan); son, Greg Adams (Carol); brother, Ed King (Barbara); sisters, Jo Hood and Ann Davis (Carlton), all of Piedmont; and five grandchildren, Caleb Adams (Autumn), Melissanne Butler, Matthew Adams, Andrew Adams, and Sydney Crawford.

Visitation will be on Thursday, July 1, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Mount Pisgah Baptist Church. Please share your love by wearing blue, as all shades of blue were Mrs. Adams’ favorite colors.

A memorial service will be held Friday, July 2 at 4:00 p.m. at the church. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mount Pisgah Baptist Church, Building Fund, 101 Pisgah Road, Easley, SC 29642.

The family is at the home of her daughter, Sherree Crawford.
