Recently released South Carolina State Department of Education 2020 school report cards and test scores show Anderson School District One remains among the best in the State.

District One had nine out of the District’s thirteen eligible schools receive an “Excellent” rating on the State Report Card and reflected the highest graduation rate ever for the District at over ninety-three percent.

Anderson One’s graduation rate ranks third in the state in public high schools.

“We are extremely proud of the accomplishments of our students and for the tremendous support provided by each school’s faculty, staff and community,” said District One Superintendent Robbie Binnicker. “When a student graduates successfully from our high schools, it is the result of a collective effort that begins with our primary and elementary schools, continues through middle schools, and culminates with our students crossing the stage at graduation to receive a diploma. Anderson One values the success of every individual student and we take seriously our challenge to prepare our students for college or careers beyond high school. We are excited to celebrate this accomplishment.”

One major factor in the success is that approximately eighty-eight percent of District One students attended face-to-face instruction during the last school year.

Assistant Superintendent Dr. Jeff Wilson said, “We are very proud of all of our schools. To see nine of our schools receive an excellent rating while dealing with a pandemic speaks to the dedication of our teachers, staff, administrators, and students. Anderson One continues to be among the best districts as this year’s report card indicates.”

In addition to high test scores, the State Department of Education also recently released graduation rates for the 2020-21 academic year.

The Graduation Rate for Anderson District One is its highest ever at 93.3%. The average graduation rate for SC Schools is 83.3%. Anderson One’s graduation rate is the combined graduation rates of Palmetto, Powdersville, and Wren High Schools.

Powdersville High School’s graduation rate was 92.6% and Wren High School led Anderson One with a graduation rate of 94.8%. In addition to the highest graduation rate for the District, Palmetto High School had its highest graduation rate ever at 92.2%.

Palmetto High School Principal Robbie Roach said, “The success of Palmetto High reaches far beyond our walls and our staff. We serve students, families and a community that values education and lives our motto of Striving Ever Upward.

The high school graduation rate is the culmination of excellent work and dedication from the faculties of Cedar Grove Elementary, West Pelzer Elementary, Palmetto Elementary, Palmetto Middle and the Anderson 1 and 2 Career Center. We celebrate increasing our graduation rate with all of these schools that played a vital role in the process. While we celebrate, we all continue Striving Ever Upward improving opportunities for all of our students.”

Anderson One has maintained a graduation rate above ninety percent since 2018.
