Johnny Cothran

Johnny Raymond Cothran of Piedmont, Jr., 84, husband of Judith Naomi Finley “Judy” Cothran, passed away Monday, June 20, 2022.

Born in Ware Place, he was a son of the late John Raymond Cothran, Sr. and Lillie Gambrell Cothran. A member of Washington Baptist Church, he retired from A-Chem, and was a mason.

 In addition to his wife, Mr. Cothran is survived by his children, Teresa Beals of Greenville, Milton Cothran of Greenville, Tammie Harbert of Rock Hill, and Camise Moses (Duke) of Greenville; grandchildren, Todd, Chad, Casey, Lauren, Bailey, Alex, and Dawson; great-grandchildren, Hunter, Zechary, Meredith, Jeremiah, Caroline, Lucy, James, Athena, and Willa; and one great-great-grandchild on the way.

He was predeceased by brother, Jimmy D. Cothran.

A graveside service will be held Friday, June 24, at 3:00 p.m. at Woodlawn Memorial Park, Greenville. The family will greet friends following the service at the grave.

Henry McConnell

Henry Eugene McConnell of Williamston, 85, husband of Daisy Lee Elrod McConnell, passed away Tuesday, June 14, 2022.

Born in Pelzer, he was a son of the late Charlie Jackson McConnell, Sr. and Violet Victoria Lee McConnell. He retired from Duke Power, Lee Steam Plant and was a member of Trinity Baptist Church. Henry was a godly and faithful servant to the Lord. He truly blessed his family being a dad, papa, great-papa, great-great-papa.

In addition to his wife of 67 years, he is survived by daughters, Debra M. Hollingsworth and Patricia L. McConnell, both of Williamston; grandchildren, Rusty Hollingsworth (Stacy) and Chad Hollingsworth (Kelly); great-grandchildren, Katie, Cash, and Caribeth Hollingsworth, Cole Watkins (Kaddie), Hunter Watkins (Hailey), and J.J. Smith (Angela); and great-great- grandchildren, Brinley and Addy Watkins.

He was the last surviving member of his immediate family of six brothers and two sisters.

Visitation was held on Thursday, June 16, from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. at Gray Mortuary.

The service was Friday, June 17, at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Baptist Church, with burial following at Greenville Memorial Gardens.

The family wishes to extend their thanks to the staff of Hospice of the Upstate and to his caregivers, Tracy Phillips and Robert Plott.

Memorials may be made to Trinity Baptist Church Building Fund at 324 Belton Drive, Williamston, SC 29697; or to Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson, SC 29621.

Jon Adler Lippert, 67, beloved husband of Revonda Lippert, of Pelzer passed away on June 16, 2022

Linda Jean VanDyke Koppen of Piedmont, 62, wife of Rev. Neil Arlen Koppen, passed away Saturday, June 11, 2022.

Born in Tyler, MN, she was a daughter of Cora Kuyper VanDyke of Sioux Falls, SD and of the late Fred VanDyke. She was the former owner and operator of Hair Expressions by Lin. She was a member of Parkway Wesleyan Church in Staunton, VA. .

 In addition to her husband and mother, she is survived by, daughters, Brittany Faith Mann of Easley and Jenna Joy Koppen of Piedmont; sister, Marietta VanDyke of Baltic, SD; brothers, Gary VanDyke of Elkton, SD, Dennis VanDyke of Brookings, SD, and Cal VanDyke of Brandon, SD; and one grandchild.

A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, June 25, in the Alive Chapel in the Nicholson-Mitchell Christian Ministry Center at Southern Wesleyan University (807 Wesleyan Drive, Central, SC 29630).

George Wiley

George Lewis Wiley of Piedmont, 91, husband of the late Bonnie Carroll Stark Wiley, passed away Thursday, June 16, 2022.

   Born in Warren, ME, he was a son of the late Alford Lewis and Ruth Moody Wiley. He was a U.S. Army veteran, and retired from Modern Welding Company in Orlando, FL.

Survivors include his children, Georgiann McFalls of the home, Larry L. Wiley of Summerville, and Grace Crocker of Desha, AR; siblings, Agnes Crockett, Verna Bean, Celia Waltz, all of ME, Arnold Wiley of NC, Carlton Wiley and Donna Dow, both of ME; 10 grandchildren; and many great- and great-great-grandchildren.

 Visitation will be held Saturday, June 25, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Greenville Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Chapel, followed by the funeral at 11:00 a.m. in the mausoleum chapel. Burial will be in the cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

Aaron Dodd

Aaron Patrick Dodd of Williamston, a lifelong resident of Williamston, passed away Wednesday, June 15, 2022, at the age of 33, from injuries sustained in an accident.

He was born in Greenville on April 5, 1989. He worked at Saluda Valley Country Club for several years and later held jobs at Hardees of Williamston and BMW of Greer.

 He was a member of High Praises Church

Survivors include his parents, Art “Arty” and Sharon Dodd of the home; brother, Samuel Dodd of Piedmont, as well as their expected child; grandparents, Nora Dodd of Pelzer and Maynard and Barbara Turner of Williamston.

 Visitation was held June 18 at Gray Mortuary.

A private graveside service will be held.
