The lot at the corner of Academy Street and West Main Street in Williamston has been sold and is in the process of being cleared in preparation for a Bojangles restaurant, according to a previous property owner. There have been rumors of the popular restaurant chain coming to Williamston for some time. The old house that was demolished had been a rental for years. Though the year the house was built could not be confirmed by The Journal, it is thought to have been there in the 1940s and built around that time or earlier. A large tree on the corner of the lot, thought to be approximately 125 years old, was taken down last year. (Photo by Jack Ellenburg)
