The Cancer Association of Anderson will hold their 2022 Hot Air Affair: Rising Above Cancer event in Williamston this weekend, Sept 2 – 5. This is the fifth year for the balloon event which offers a fun weekend of activities, raises awareness of cancer and honors cancer patients.
Once again, skies above the Town of Williamston will be filled with beautiful hot air balloons and will benefit the Cancer Association of Anderson, the only local cancer charity in Anderson County.
The Hot Air Affair: Rising Above Cancer event will feature twenty-five hot air balloons, a kids-zone, food, vendors and much more.
According to Angela Stringer, Organizer and Director of the Cancer Association of Anderson, they are expecting 6000+ people during the three-day event.
The event will begin Friday morning with a 6:45 – 8:00 am Balloon Flight Window launching from the Anderson School District One and Two Career and Technology Center.
Friday evening activities from 5 pm to 10 pm will include food and vendors at the ballfield located behind the Williamston Municipal Center. There will also be a Kids Zone, Evening Balloon Flight and Balloon Glow.
Activities will include food trucks, vendors, the Anderson County Fire Department Smoke House with special appearances by the Friendly Neighborhood Superheroes and the 501st Legion. The Kids Zone will have the trackless train and lots of bouncy equipment.
Activities will continue all day on Saturday and Sunday (see schedule) and will finish on Monday with a 6:45 to 8:00 am Morning Balloon Flight Window for a Memorial Flight in memory of cancer patients and in honor of Fighters and Survivors.
