Ann Hamby, James “Jimmy” Seigler, Curtis Freeman, Charlotte Brewster

Charlotte Brewster

Charlotte Lee Sloan Brewster of Piedmont, 74, wife of Adron Brewster, passed away Wednesday, September 28, 2022, at her home. 

Born in Amma, West Virginia, she was a daughter of the late Archie Lee and Nellie Abbott Sloan. She retired from the U.S. Postal Service.

 In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Amanda Leigh Brewster Bian (Kurosh) of Plano, TX; brothers, Clyde Sloan of Left Hand, WV, Roy Sloan and Calvin Sloan, both of Clendenin, WV, Wayne Sloan of Walton, WV; sisters, Barbara Sloan Simmons of Amma, WV and Susie Sloan Wright of Bruceton Mills, WV; four grandchildren.

 A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Curtis Freeman

Luther Curtis Freeman of Piedmont, 87, husband of the late Janis Leodis Banks Freeman, passed away Thursday, September 29, 2022.

Born in Anderson County, he was a son of the late Esley and Nettie Mae Cason Freeman. He retired from Instel Electrical Test Inc. and was a member of Wren Baptist Church.

He is survived by son, Danny Freeman of Piedmont; grandchildren, Alicia Minter, Robert Freeman and Crystal Freeman; and six great-grandchildren.

 The service will be held at 12:00 pm Wednesday, October 5, in the chapel of Gray Mortuary, Pelzer with entombment to follow at Greenville Memorial Gardens. The family will greet friends following the committal service.

James “Jimmy” Seigler

 James Earl “Jimmy” Seigler of Honea Path, 62, fiancé of Gwen Schortgen, passed away Sunday, October 2, 2022.

   Born in Pelzer, he was a son of the late Walter Coley Seigler, Sr. and Cornelia Gayle Edes Seigler. A U.S. Army veteran, he retired from the City of Belton, and was a member of Alive Wesleyan Church.

   In addition to his fiancé, he is survived by children, Kyle Schortgen of Honea Path, Amber Brock (Travis) of Honea Path, and Brandon Schortgen of Greenwood; brothers, Billy Seigler of Williamston and Walter Seigler Jr. of Anderson; sister, Lynn Seigler of Arkansas; and seven grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Ann Hamby

North Myrtle Beach – Mary Ann Sullivan Hamby, 79, wife of the late Robert Harold Hamby, Sr., passed away Friday, September 30, 2022.

Born in Anderson County, she was a daughter of the late Cecil Edward and Beatrice Thurston Sullivan. She retired from Universal Fasteners and was a member of Wren Baptist Church.

She is survived by her son, Robert Harold Hamby, Jr., (Tina) of North Myrtle Beach; brothers, Larry Thurston (Pat) of Piedmont and Allen Sullivan of Townville; and grandchild, Kendall Hamby.

 She was predeceased by brother, Gary Sullivan and sister, Jackie McDowell.

 A graveside service will be held Thursday, October 6, at 3:00 p.m. at Greenville Memorial Gardens, Piedmont.
