Joanne Patterson Beresh 

Joanne Patterson Beresh, 79, of Williamston, SC, passed away on December 14, 2022, after an extended illness. She was a dedicated mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family.

Joanne was born in Greenville, SC to the late Robert JC and Emma Mae Patterson on September 25, 1943. She graduated from Greenville High School in 1961. She married the late John Charles Beresh on December 23, 1961, and they were together for 60 years. She graduated Summa Cum Laude with her Bachelor’s degree from Limestone College in 1988.

Joanne was a professional REALTOR® and CEO of The Joanne Beresh Group/C. Dan Joyner, an affiliate of Berkshire Hathaway. She began her Real Estate Career in 1988 after 25 plus years in the business world working at Fiber Industries (Celanese).

She was a native of Greenville, SC and a 35-year resident of the Powdersville/Williamston area. She was consistently ranked at the top in her field. She was always determined to do whatever was right whatever her role; mother, wife, friend, business associate or REALTOR®. She served as a mentor to her grandson, Matthew Beresh-Bryant, who has worked with her for over 10 years as her protégé and she began turning over the business to him in 2021, where he continues her legacy of excellence in real estate as a Top Producer.

Joanne is survived by her daughter, Cindy Beresh-Bryant; son-in-law, Rob Beresh-Bryant; grandson, Matthew Beresh-Bryant; granddaughter-in-law, Jessica Beresh-Bryant; and great granddaughter, Jaina Beresh-Bryant.

A visitation was held on Monday, December 19, 2022, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and Tuesday, December 20, 2022, from 12:30 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes, Northwest, 6710 White Horse Rd. Greenville, SC 29611. A celebration of life service followed the visitation on Tuesday, December 20, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. in the Northwest Chapel. Burial was held in Greenville Memorial Gardens in Piedmont, SC, immediately following the celebration of life service.

Malinda Allison

Malinda “Lindy” Mae Jones Allison of
Piedmont, 76, widow of Donald Ray Allison, Sr., passed away Thursday, December 15, 2022, at her home.

   Born in Pelzer, she was a daughter of the late Jacob and Tommie Martin Jones.  She retired from Cushman Plant and was a member of Eastview Baptist Church.

Survivors include daughters, Belinda Cowan of Piedmont and Annette Cartee of Pelzer; brother, Billy Jones of Belton; sisters, Helen Libbie Ford of Anderson and Martha Vinson of Pelzer; sister-in-law, Bonnie Allison of Honea Path; 7 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.

The family received friends December 18 at    Gray Mortuary, Pelzer.

A graveside service was held December 19, at Greenville Memorial Gardens.

Dora Ford

Dora Alexander Ford of Duluth, GA, 93, wife of the late William Thomas Ford, formerly of Pelzer, SC, passed away Wednesday, December 14, 2022.

Born in Anderson, SC, she was a daughter of the late Walter Junior and Louise Wright Alexander.

She is survived by daughter, Kimberly Renee Cordero of Duluth, GA; and one grandchild.

 A service was Sunday, December 18, in the mausoleum chapel at Greenville Memorial Gardens.

Ryan Sherman

Honea Path – Ryan Scott Sherman went to be with our Heavenly Father on Sunday December 11th, 2022, with his family by his side in Greenville, South Carolina.

Ryan was born February 12th, 1989 at Cobleskill Regional Hospital in Cobleskill, New York to Scott Sherman and Tammy Porter and raised in both South Carolina and New York. Ryan attended Middleburgh Central School and went out in the world of work as a talented young man with many skills of trade throughout the years.

   Just a good ole country boy, through the years, Ryan loved to hunt, fish, and do many outdoor activities. Making friends was not hard for Ryan as he would light up the room as soon as he walked in. No matter what kind of day either of you had, he always left a smile on your face and his big arms wrapped around you. Known as the life of the party, over the past year, Ryan developed a relationship with the Lord. He loved spending time and making memories with his friends, but most of all with his family.

Surviving Ryan are his wife, Sarah Sherman, and his three loving children, Ella-Grace, Tala, and Emmitt; his parents, Scott Sherman and Tammy Porter; grandparents, Jane Helligas (Daniel) and Wayne Porter (Mariann); siblings, Sean Sherman and Sarah Righi (Nicholas); nephews, Carter Sherman and Roman Righi; uncles, Larry Sherman (Debbie), Jessie Porter (Donna), Kenneth Porter (Sarah), and Travis Smith (Amanda); aunt, Heather Sherman; cousins,  Christopher Sherman (Samantha), Kaitlyn Sherman, Cody, Calob, and Connor Ganson, Taylor Kersey (Steven), Madison Lyles (Gage), Jessica Porter (Dre Jefferson), Isabella Carlton, Mina, August, and Scarlett Kersey, Gage, Landyn, Dawsyn, and Anastasia Lyles, Raynn Jefferson, Peyton Sherman, and Evelyn Gray.

   Ryan is predeceased by his grandparents, Allard “Pa” and Nancy “NaNa” Sherman; great-grandparents, Lawrence and Alice “LaLa” Ostrander, and Rowland and Elizabeth Slater.

   A memorial service will be held Thursday, December 22, at 5:00 p.m. in the chapel at Gray Mortuary.

Dora Fountain

Dora Lee Fricks Fountain of Pelzer, 85, wife of the late Gerald D. Fountain, passed away on Friday, December 16, 2022.

Born in Piedmont, she was a daughter of the late Lewis Franklin and Azalea Mullikin Fricks. She retired from Milliken Cushman Mills of Williamston and was a member of Eastview Baptist Church in Pelzer.  Survivors include her daughter, Tina Reeves of Pelzer and son, Tony Fountain of Lexington; two grandchildren, sister, Eunice Bridges of Piedmont, Melvie Duncan of Pelzer, Myrtle Phillips of Pelzer, and Patricia Knight of Williamston; brothers include David Fricks of Clarkston, MI, Wayne Fricks of Belton, and Billy Joe Fricks of Toccoa, GA.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, December 21, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Gray Mortuary, with the funeral immediately following at 12:00 p.m. in the mortuary chapel. Burial will be at Greenville Memorial Gardens, in Piedmont.

Brittany Richardson

Williamston – Brittany Nicole Richardson, 31, and her infant daughter, Kinsley Ann Richardson passed away Tuesday, December 13, 2022.

Born in Anderson, she was a daughter of Joel Thomas “Joey” Richardson (Jennifer Sexton) of Williamston and Minnie Galloway (Brian Piner) of Piedmont.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by grandfather, Gary Pletcher of Williamston; brother, Dylan Richardson; half-brother, Michael Hicks; half-sister, Breezey Vosberg, all of Williamston; and special friend, Jessie Smith of Anderson.

She was predeceased by grandmother, Ruth Ann Pletcher.

A memorial service was held Friday, December 16 at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel at Gray Mortuary, with visitation following.

Cherel Bayne

Pelzer – Cherel Lyn McLaughlin Bayne, 65, wife of David Bayne, passed away Saturday, December 10, 2022.

Born in Kingsville, TX, she was a daughter of Catherine Dianne Patton “Cathy” McLaughlin of Whidbey Island, WA, and of the late Edward Anthony McLaughlin. She was a homemaker.

In addition to her husband and mother, she is survived by daughter, Jennifer Gross of Pelzer; son, Gareth McLaughlin of Simpsonville; brothers, Jim McLaughlin of WA, and Joe McLaughlin of OR; and grandchildren, Gavin and Ava McLaughlin that she was affectionately known to as “Nana”.

She had many nieces and nephews, but she was closest to her nieces, Cathy Cadotte and Hope Gambrell. She also had numerous great-nieces and nephews, but known as “Mimi” to Kiley Cadotte, Cameron Hall, and Braden Vaughn. She was beloved by us and will be truly missed.

   She was predeceased by brothers, Terri and Edward McLaughlin; and sister, Tammie Gambrell.

Visitation was held Saturday, December 17, from 12:30 to 2:00 p.m. at Gray Mortuary. The funeral was followed at 2:00 p.m. in the mortuary chapel, with burial at Greenville Memorial Gardens.
