A firefighter walks by one of three vehicles involved in a wreck Tuesday morning on Highway 29 at Ellison Lake Road. A pickup truck was waiting to turn left from Highway 29 south onto Ellison Lake Road when an 18 wheeler also traveling south changed lanes to avoid the truck. When the 18 wheeler moved over, the big rig got into the side of a Jeep also traveling south forcing the Jeep off the roadway and down an embankment. The 18 wheeler then struck the truck that was waiting to turn before going off the roadway and down an embankment striking a fire hydrant. Water then began gushing from the broken hydrant. Whitefield and West Pelzer firefighters responded along with Bowers Ambulance Service. There were no injuries.
