Medshore, several QRV’s, West Pelzer firefighters, and nearly a dozen deputies responded to a shooting in Pelzer Monday evening. A teenager was flown to Prisma Health by MedTrans 1 helicopter suffering from a gunshot wound. Firefighters set up a landing zone for the helicopter at the ballfield on Highway 20. According to Anderson County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer Shale Remien, a group of teens got together inside the house unsupervised and at least one of them had a gun in their possession. Detectives are still looking into what led up to the shot being fired. A 16-year-old juvenile has been charged with Assault and Battery High and Aggravated and has been taken to Columbia under DJJ custody.
