Sheriff deputy charged with ill treatment of animal

Agents with the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) have charged Patrick Cowan Henry, Jr., 46, of Anderson with Ill Treatment of Animals – 1st Offense.
Henry was booked at Anderson County Detention Center.
Henry was a deputy with the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office (ACSO) at the time of the investigation. ACSO Animal Control deputies observed the condition of a dog owned by Henry and noted the dog appeared to be in need of medical attention. The dog was seized and turned over to Anderson County Pets Are Worth Saving (PAWS) Animal Shelter for medical treatment.
Due to Henry’s employment with the ACSO, on November 28, 2022, ACSO requested SLED conduct the investigation.
The case will be prosecuted by the 13th Circuit Solicitor’s Office.
