The SC Highway Patrol, Anderson County Sheriff’s Office and Anderson County Coroner’s Office are investigating a motor vehicle accident that occurred Sunday around 12:00 pm on I-85 North that has been determined to be a suicide.
Deputy Coroner Ty Blackwell identified the victim and determined that the decedent died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, resulting in the vehicle striking the guard rail and wrecking around mile marker 10.
According to Blackwell, there is no indication of foul play and/or injury as a result of the motor vehicle crash. The case has been ruled a Suicide. The decedent’s name will not be released in accordance with Coroner’s Office policy.
The Anderson County Fire Department, Anderson County EMS, Medshore EMS, South Carolina Highway Patrol, Anderson County Sheriff’s Office and the Office of the Coroner responded to the incident.
The incident remains under investigation by the Anderson County Office of the Coroner and the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office.
