Scarfo elected to council in West Pelzer

A total of fourteen votes were cast in the West Pelzer Town Special Election Tuesday to fill the remainder of the term for a seat on council left vacant with the resignation of councilmember Pat Alexander in December. Thomas Scarfo, who was the only candidate to sign up and whose name was the only one on the ballot, received 12 votes or 85.71 percent of the vote. There were two write-in votes. West Pelzer has a total of 528 registered voters. Two council seats and the mayor’s seat will be open later this year and will be voted on In the general election Nov. 7. Filing for the seats will be held August 8-23.
