Becky Traynham 

Manley

Rebecca Sylvia “Becky” Traynham Manley of Piedmont, 72, wife of Mickey Manley, passed away Saturday, May 6, 2023.

Born in Pelzer, she was a daughter of the late John Harold and Virginia Belle Strickland Traynham. She was formerly employed with Trey Merck Law Firm and was a member of Living Waters Church of God of Prophecy.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by siblings, Sally Tice of Pelzer, Harold Traynham of Boone, NC, Otis Traynham of Easley, Jerry Traynham of Greenville, and Carolyn Nations of Easley.

Visitation will be held Friday, May 12 from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at Gray Mortuary. The funeral will follow at 11:30 a.m. in the mortuary chapel, with burial at Woodlawn Memorial Park.

Sandra Tyler

Sandra Ruth Cole Tyler of Pelzer, 61, passed away Friday, May 5, 2023.

Born in Anderson County, she was a daughter of Robert Norman and Vivian Deloris Darby Cole.  She was employed at The Hub, in Moonville and a member of Crosswell Apostolic Church in Easley.  

She is survived by daughters, Amanda Todd, and Anne Tyler of Pelzer; sister, Lynn C. Taylor of Pelzer; one grandson.

A Celebration of Life was held May 9 at Crosswell Apostolic Church, 122 Latham Street, Easley, SC  29640.

Larry Moore

 Larry Lee Moore of Taylors, 83, husband of Naomi Lou Wolfe Moore, passed away Thursday, May 4, 2023.

   Born in Monongalia County, WV, he was the son of the late Clarence Millard and Rebecca Catlett Moore. He was a U.S. Army Korean veteran and retired from Bell Atlantic.    In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughter, Rebecca Biggerstaff of Ector County, TX; son, Michael D. Moore of Taylors; step-son, Lance Hamilton of Mooresville, NC; one grandchild and one great-grandchild. 

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, May 13, in the chapel of Gray Mortuary, Pelzer.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Rainey Hospice House, 1835 Rogers Rd., Anderson, SC 29625.

Prue Huff

Prue Benson Huff of Pelzer, 97, husband of the late Nellie Eugenia Merritt Huff, passed away Friday, May 5, 2023.

   Born in Travelers Rest, he was a son of the late William Augustus and Bessie Mae Benson Huff.  He was a U.S. Army veteran having served in both WWII and the Korean war. He was the owner/operator of Prue Huff Exxon, Prue Huff Auto Parts, and Huff’s Outdoor Power Equipment.  He was a member of Reedy Fork Baptist Church.  

   He is survived by daughter, Ann Couch of Pelzer; and son, Bill Huff (Becky) of Pelzer; five grandchildren; and seventeen great-grandchildren.

   He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

Visitation was May 9, at Gray Mortuary.

The funeral service was May 10 at 1:30 p.m. at Reedy Fork Baptist Church, with burial to follow at Greenville Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the cause of one’s choice.

Dennis Allison

 Dennis Norman Allison of Piedmont, 61, passed away Thursday, May 4, 2023.

Born in Greenville, he was a son of the late Jessie D. “J.D.” Allison, Jr. and Vashti Chambers Allison. He retired from G.E. He was a volunteer fire fighter with Wren Fire Department and was a member of Mountain Springs Baptist Church.

Survivors include his siblings, Morgan Allison of Greer, Bonnie A. Owens, David Allison, Larry Allison; sister-in-law, Linda Smith, all of Piedmont.

Visitation was held May 10, at Mountain Springs Baptist Church. The funeral followed in the church, with burial at Shiloh United Methodist Church.

Michael Scott Logan

Michael Scott Logan was born in Rutherfordton, County on November 12, 1957 to the union of Britt Logan and Mae Ola Simmons.  After a two-year battle with cancer, Mike was called home to be with the Lord on April 18th, 2023. 

Mike grew up and lived in Chicago, where he attended Holy Cross and James Madison schools, until the passing of his mother, when he then relocated to Rutherfordton, County, N.C. He attended R.S. Central High School.  He later met and married Sandra Blanton, where they were blessed with a beloved daughter, Fredricka (Dana) Logan.   

Mike was a man of many talents.  He had exceptional interpersonal skills.   He was a great communicator and very engaging.  These talents contributed to his successes as a painter, disc jockey and his greatest passion as a karate instructor.

Mike loved martial arts.  He dedicated 40 years of his life to the profession.  He attained one of the highest levels of recognition in martial arts – an eight-degree belt.  He was a visible leader in his community – giving back, volunteering his services and mentoring youth.  In addition to being featured in the newspaper, Mike was the recipient of many honors, certificates and awards for his expertise in karate.     

Mike was one of the visionary leaders at Tiger Paw Martial Arts Academy in Williamston, South Carolina.  He was recognized with the titles of “Sensei, Hachidon and Grandmaster.” 

While Mike earned and was honored with many martial arts titles, his favorites outside of the martial arts realm were “daddy and papa”.   Mike was blessed with three beautiful daughters, Fredricka (Dana) Logan, Ashley Jimerson and Jacqueline La’Trese (Jackie) Logan.  Ashley blessed Mike with his only grandchild, Aria Lawrence. 

Mike loved watching documentaries.  He was a connoisseur of music, especially R&B and gospel.  He enjoyed fishing, fine cars and spending time with his family.

Mike was a man of faith.  He accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior.  He attended church, read the Bible and quoted scripture that inspired curiosity, hope and faith. 

In addition to his parents, Mike was preceded in death by his step-father Clymon Ledbetter, nephew Shawn Ledbetter, grandfather, Reece Simmons and grandmother Ola Simmons as well as his maternal aunts and uncles.

Left to cherish fond and loving memories are his sisters Theresa A. Dear of Bartlett, IL, Carolyn A. Ledbetter (Fat), of Mauldin, SC, Carol A. Ledbetter (PD) of Spindale, NC, Debbie D. Ledbetter (DD) of Spindale, NC and Ami Ledbetter Seabrook of Spindale, NC., his loving daughters, Fredricka Logan (Dana) of Forest City, NC, Ashley Jimerson of Lake Wylie, S,C. and Jacqueline La’Trese Logan (Jackie) of Georgia and a host of other nieces, nephews, mentees, students and friends.
