Williamston Police Officers recently investigated the following incidents:
Apr. 29 – Joel Colon, 39, 14 Springdale Dr., Williamston reported his 2015 Mercedes Benz stolen. According to reports, Colon stated he placed the vehicle on Facebook Marketplace to be sold and was contacted by an individual identified as Cory Jones who was interested. Colon stated the vehicle was still being paid on thru Credit Acceptance Bank. Colon informed Jones of the bank contact information to pay $20,855. The bank notified Colon that eight payments of $2509 and a last payment of $888.72 were made from Capital One Bank. Colon stated he paid the difference of $1300 toward the account and was told by a bank employee that the transaction was approved and “all payment was approved and account was closed.”
A black male with dreads driving a white SUV with a trailer came to retrieve the vehicle and placed a Texas license plate on it. A bill of sale was given and title was to be mailed. Several days later Colon received a phone email that the account was reopened. Colon contacted the bank and was told everything was a mess and he needed to report the vehicle stolen. The bank was to open an investigation. Officer J. Cobb investigated.
Apr. 30 – A warrant was issued for Autin Michael Lee Burrell, 28, 24 Traxler Ave. Williamston after officer J. Cobb was dispatched to the address in reference to a domestic incident. According to reports, Burrell slapped a laundry basket out of Brittany Mckala Bell’s hand and Bell slapped him. He then grabbed her by the neck and drug her across the living room floor in front of their 9 month old son. The incident was witnessed by a friend of Bell. Bell, who had a prior outstanding warrant, left the residence in a dark color F-150 with back tailgate damaged. A warrant was issued and entered into NCIC on May 4.
Apr. 30 – Officer J. Cobb was dispatched to the Williamston PD in reference to an indecent exposure incident on Spring St. According to reports, a resident reported that his neighbor had been outside in the front driveway multiple times washing his vehicle with his pants around his knees and no underwear on exposing his genitals and rearend. The report stated there were several neighborhood children outside while this was happening. After being contacted, the man admitted to the incident and stated he had trouble keeping his pants around his waist. Officers explained that he could face charges for indecent exposure and disorderly conduct and he was issued a verbal warning.
Apr. 29 – Kelly Shawn Kilmer, 49, 114 Ross Dr., Starr, was arrested for public disorderly conduct after officer J. S. Grinnell responded to Bojangles, 627 West Main Street, in reference to an intoxicated person. According to reports, officers observed a white male wearing blue jeans and a dark gray shirt standing in the parking lot. The man had a hard time finding his ID and wouldn’t follow officer commands.
During a search incident to the arrest, a small plastic bag containing approximately one gram of a white powder substance believed to be cocaine was found. Kilmer was arrested for public disorderly conduct and transported to ACDC, where he began yelling and became beligerent toward the officer. The incident remains under investigation pending further testing of the white powder substance.
Apr. 29 – Officer R. Mahaffey and Officer J. M. Cobb were dispatched to 105 Gates Courts in reference to an animal complaint. According to reports officers observed a white kennel with a dead dog inside it. A neighbor stated that a blonde female rented the property last and was last seen a couple of weeks ago moving out a couch. She drove a white Toyota 4Runner. The incident remains under investigation.
Apr. 28 – Officer J. S. Grinnell responded to 207 S. Green St. where Hunter Alexander Smith, 24, reported the theft of a vehicle license plate from his white 2003 Ford F-150.
