A LifeFlight medical helicopter crew makes their way to an ambulance Friday evening to assist a Medshore crew with a patient injured in an all terrain vehicle accident near his home on Brooks Rd, just off Hwy. 29, Belton. The 15 year old victim was treated by EMS personnel and transported to AnMed where he succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival at the hospital. Chief Deputy Coroner Don McCown identified the victim as Ashton Briley Tafoya, a freshman at Palmetto High School. According to the coroner’s office, the investigation indicates that Tafoya and a friend were riding an ATV and apparently attempted to travel up a steep hill, when the ATV overturned striking the Tafoya. Whitefield firefighters, two QRV’s, Medshore EMS and Anderson County Deputies assisted. (Photo by David Rogers)
