John Lewars

John David Lewars pf Pelzer, 53, passed away Monday, August 14, 2023.

Born in Chester, PA, and lived most of his life in Newark, DE, he was a son of Thomas Belfield Lewars, III and Cynthia Marie Kashnoski Lewars of Anchorage, AK. He was employed with Fred Anderson Honda in Greenville, formerly Breakaway Honda. 

 In addition to his parents, he is survived by a sister, Linda Morris of Richmond, KY; a brother, Nathan Lewars of Port Angeles, WA.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to PAWS, 1320 Highway 29 South, Anderson, SC 29626.

Gary Henry

Gary George Henry, 85, of Piedmont, passed away Saturday, August 19, 2023.

Born in Erie, PA, he was the only son of the late George and Cecelia Nuhfer Henry. A U.S. Navy veteran, he retired from Roadway Trucking and was of the Catholic faith.

Survivors include his children, Pam Frazier and Karen Henry, both of Simpsonville, and Chris Henry of Raleigh; sister, Terri Weaver of Atlanta; four grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held Friday, August 25, at 10:00 a.m. at Graceland East Memorial Park, with military honors.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to McCall Hospice House, 1836 West Georgia Road, Simpsonville, SC 29680.

Barbara Cole

Barbara Louise Kimbrell Cole of Pelzer, 81, wife of the late Guy Alvin Cole, passed away Sunday, August 20, 2023.

 Born in Greenville County, she was a daughter of the late Willis Westmoreland and Pearley Louise Hamby Kimbrell. She was formerly employed with Chick-fil-A of Simpsonville and was a member of Bessie Road Baptist Church.

She is survived by her son, Guy Cole of Spartanburg and one granddaughter.

A graveside service will be held Thursday, August 24, at 11:00 a.m. at Greenville Memorial Gardens.

Jeanette Casey

Williamston – Margaret Jeanette Jones Casey, 89, wife of the late Manson Jolly “Junior” Casey, Jr. who followed her in death by just a few hours, passed away Thursday, August 10, 2023.

   Born in Williamston, she was a daughter of the late Dennis Millard and Thelma Hanley Jones. Mrs. Casey retired from childcare and home cleaning. She was a member of Beaverdam Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School for preschool-aged children for over 50 years. She also was a member of the church choir, Mission Friends, and the WMU.

   Survivors include her daughter, Karen Ursry and daughter-in-law, Mary Casey; both of Williamston; grandchildren, James Edward “Eddie” Casey (Dana) of Pelzer and Brandy Danielle Casey of Williamston; great-grandson, Matthew James Casey; brothers, Charles Jones (Nora) of Williamston and Reece Jones of Seneca; sister, Addie Jones Cooper of Belton; step-brother, Ben Rhodes (Rita); step-sisters, Ada Rhodes Martin and Wanda Rhodes Evatt (Steve); and several nieces and nephews.

   She was predeceased by son, James Edward Casey; daughter, Eva Ann Casey Taylor; brothers, Joe and Milford Jones; sisters, Sybil Jones Sanders, Sonja Jones Greer, and Denise Jones Hursey; and step-mother, Frances Rhodes.

   Visitation was  held Sunday, August 20, from 2:30 to 3:45 p.m. at Beaverdam Baptist Church, with a memorial service following at 4:00 p.m., officiated by Rev. Brandon Couch.

Junior Casey

Williamston – Manson Jolly “Junior” Casey, Jr., 100, husband of the late Margaret Jeanette Jones Casey, who preceded him in death by just a few hours, passed away Friday, August 11, 2023.

   Born in Williamston, he was a son of the late Manson Jolly Casey, Sr. and Eva Ann Martin Casey. Mr. Casey retired from Owens-Corning Fiberglass in Anderson. He was a lifelong member of Beaverdam Baptist Church, where he served as Deacon and in the Brotherhood, as well as on most committees, including the Welcoming Committee. He volunteered with Meals on Wheels of Anderson County and volunteered in nursing homes, doing devotions for homebound ministries.

Survivors include his daughter, Karen Ursry and daughter-in-law, Mary Casey, both of Williamston; grandchildren, James Edward “Eddie” Casey (Dana) of Pelzer and Brandy Danielle Casey of Williamston; great-grandson, Matthew James Casey; sister, Shelba Ellison, of Williamston; very special cousin, Billy Martin; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by son, James Edward Casey; daughter, Eva Ann Casey Taylor; brother, Joe Casey; sisters, Bobbie Culbertson and Ethel Hawkins; and very special friend, Butch Rhodes.

Visitation was held Sunday, August 20, from 2:30 to 3:45 p.m. at Beaverdam Baptist Church, with a memorial service following at 4:00 p.m., officiated by Rev. Brandon Couch.
