Pig in the Park Barbecue Festival and Cookoff – May 17 & 18

The annual Pig in the Park Barbecue Festival and Cookoff will return to Williamston’s Mineral Spring Park this weekend. The event features a weekend of championship cooking of barbecue, food sales, vendors and other activities.
Activities will begin on Friday with food sales, craft/vendor sales and children’s play area. The Eric Scott Band will be performing live music at the Amphitheater Stage for the Envision Williamston Friday night concert.
Cook teams will compete for the Championship and the Williamston Masonic Lodge will be selling wrist bands for all-you-can-eat barbecue samples on Saturday.
Judging of barbecue will begin at 10 am on Saturday and presentation of BBQ Championship Awards will be at 2:30 pm.
Saturday activities will include food sales, craft/vendor sales and children’s play area. Beginning at 11 am, the Williamston Masonic Lodge will be selling wristbands for All-You-Can-Eat barbecue samples, while it lasts! Wrist bands are $15 and include one drink.
Additional drinks can be purchased for $2.
The Williamston Masonic Lodge will be selling whole, already cooked and pulled Boston Butts. To preorder or find out more, message the Pig in the Park page directly.
The competition offers cash prizes to a limited number of barbecue cooking teams which are limited to four members. Experienced, trained, and Certified SCBA Judges will judge the Boston Butt pork in this contest.
There is an $1,800 cash purse as follows: 1st place $1,000; 2nd place $500; 3rd place $300. Trophies will be given to 1st thru 3rd place. First place winner will also have free entry for the following year.
