Anderson County Coroner Greg Shore examines a motorcycle after a wreck on Murphy Road Tuesday night. Medshore. a QRV, Cheddar firefighters, and state troopers responded. It happened near the intersection of K and M Court. The roadway was closed until the wreck was investigated and cleared. As of press time Wednesday, authorities had not released the name of the person fatally injured in the crash. The incident remains under investigation by the State Highway Patrol and Anderson County Coroner’s Office.
Update – Anderson County Coroner Greg Shore has identified the victim who was killed in a motorcycle accident on Murphy Road Tuesday as Dakota O’Neal Wilson, 32, of Belton.
According to the Coroner’s office, the preliminary investigation shows that the victim was riding a motorcycle in front of his home, when he lost control and struck a culvert, which caused him to hit a tree and be ejected from the motorcycle. The victim was not wearing a helmet and succumbed to his injuries on scene. According to the Coroner, speed may be a contributing factor in the crash. Coroner Greg Shore wants to remind riders, as well as drivers, to be cautious on the roadways. Summer has yet to begin and this is the sixth motorcycle death in Anderson County.
