Williamston’s Freedom Celebration this Saturday – June 29

Williamston Freedom Celebration and Concert will be held this Saturday, June 29. The all day event will include the Bobbers On Big Creek Race, a Freedom Vendors Market, golf cart parade, cruise-in, kids Fun Zone and will be capped by a Freedom concert and fireworks.
Envision Williamston and the Palmetto Business Association (PBA) are sponsoring the Bobbers on Big Creek Race.
The PBA is providing three Main Prizes of $350, $250 and $150 which will go to the top winners. PBA members will also be providing other prizes for the event. Envision Williamston has also purchased more than $500 in prizes which will be given out to other winners.
Tickets for the Bobbers on Big Creek Race are available at participating PBA member businesses through Friday, June 28. To get a ticket, go to participating PBA business where you will receive one ticket per person per business. On Saturday, bring your tickets to register for the race between 1 and 2 p.m. Registration will be held at the Envision Williamston tent which will be located near the creek in Mineral Spring Park.
Envision Williamston will also be giving away a 75 inch Smart TV during the Freedom Celebration. There is no cost to enter the drawing, however only one entry per person will be allowed and is limited to ages 18 years or older.
The drawing for the TV will be held between the two main concerts at approximately 7:15-7:30 pm. The winner must be present to win.
Line up for the Golf Cart Parade will begin at 11:30 am in front of the old ACE Hardware location in the old Town Square Center parking lot. The parade will begin at 12 noon. The parade route will be up Pelzer Avenue to Greenville Drive/Hamilton, right on Main Street, left at fire department into Mineral Spring Park for judging, through park, left back onto West Main Street, right onto Minor Street. Judges will be in the “Firemen’s Gazebo” in the park. The Golf Carts are expected to make two laps, but maybe more.
Golf Cart parking will be at College Avenue just off Minor Street. Golf Carts should enter Minor Street via Main Street for parking.
There will be a Cruise-In beginning at 3 pm in the shopping center parking lot behind/beside McDonalds. The Cruise-In is sponsored by the Williamston Fire Department.
Jukebox 45 will be performing 3 pm – 5 pm in Mineral Spring Park. There will be a free kids Fun Zone located behind Town Hall from 3 pm – 9 pm with multiple inflatables.
Viewing for the fireworks show and Freedom Celebration concert will be on the ballfields located behind Town Hall. Gates will open at 5 pm with music starting at 5:30 pm. Schedule is Luke Smith at 5:30 pm followed by TracieLynn at 6:30 pm and Gyth Rigdon at 8 pm. Fireworks will begin at 9:30 p.m.
The Williamston Fire Department will be conducting the fireworks show this year.

More than 20 Food Truck vendors are expected to offer a variety of items. Food Trucks will be located in the parking lot next to the Williamston Police Department.
Street Closings/Parking
Parking for the Freedom Celebration is free and will be available at the Masonic Lodge on Gossett Drive, Palmetto Middle School and Palmetto High School. Shuttle buses will run before and after the event.
Handicap Parking will be directly behind the old Goody’s store that was located in the old Town Square Center.
There will be a number of street closings due to the event.
West/East Main Street will be closed from Gossett Drive to Pelzer Avenue during the day and Gossett Drive to Mill Street after the fireworks show.
Town Square Drive will be closed at MVPizza/old Goody’s location during the event. Porto-jons will be located at the side of the old Goody’s building.
Austin Street will be closed from Minor Street to the ballfields.
