Candace Guthrie
Candace Sharae Guthrie of Piedmont, 39, passed away Sunday, July 7, 2024.
Born in Greenville, she was the daughter of Ray and Sharon Theresa Jones Guthrie of Piedmont. She was formerly employed with Ryan’s Restaurant. She was involved with Appalachian Ministries of the Carolinas and a member of Park Place Church of God, Greenville.
Visitation will be from 1:00 to 2:00 pm Wednesday, July 10, at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm in the mortuary chapel. Burial will be at Greenville Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Park Place Church of God, 221 Orders St., Greenville, SC 29609.

Lois Ridgeway
Lois Porter Ridgeway of Williamston, 96, widow of James Pelham Ridgeway, passed away Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at her home.
Born in Pickens County, she was a daughter of the late Henry Jacob and Nettie Jane Brooks Porter. She retired from J.P. Stevens and a member of Beaverdam Baptist Church.
Survivors include son, James Robert “Bobby” Ridgeway of Williamston; daughter, Cathy Ridgeway of Williamston; brother, Cecil Porter of Easley; sister, Margaret Crane of Honea Path; 7 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and 9 great-great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, July 14, at 2:30 p.m. at Beaverdam Baptist Church.

Roxie Reeves Aiken
Roxie Anna Reeves Aiken of Greenville, 98, widow of Wayne B. Aiken, passed away June 27, 2024.
Born in Anderson County, she was a daughter of the late Harvey Richard Reeves and Bessie Gilstrap Reeves.
She was also a talented artist in watercolor and oil, as well as sculpture and porcelain painting.
She was a member of St. Matthew United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her children, Rhonda C. Aiken, Wayne B. Aiken, Jr., and Russell Aiken.
A private graveside service was held at Shiloh Methodist Church Cemetery.
She brought joy to our lives everyday.
As a memorial, her request was to plant something in your yard to nourish wildlife.

Dawn Hayes
Dawn Maria Hayes of Piedmont, 61, passed away Wednesday, June 26, 2024.
Born in Greenville, she was the daughter of the late James Russell “Joe” and Dot Helen Fowler Hayes. She was employed with Gateway House and a member of Reedy Fork Baptist Church, Greenville.
Visitation was July 6, at Bellview Baptist Church, Woodruff. The funeral service followed in the church. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Philip Martin
Philip Carter “Fly” Martin of Easley, 78, husband of Leane Elizabeth Bothfeld Martin, passed away Tuesday, July 2, 2024.
Born in Central, SC, he was a son of the late Lee Sonny and Alma Rebecca Durham Martin. He retired from Jack Williams and Son Body Shop.
In addition to his wife he is survived by daughters, Susan Murden Bassof Charlotte, NC, Dawn Scott of Dacusville, Jennefer Page of Greenville, and Robbie McKee-Sapp of Brunswick, GA; sons, Kenneth Nelson of CA, Christopher Nelson of Anderson, Donald Martin of Easley, and Robert Martin of Brunswick, GA; sisters, Linda Young of Travelers Rest, Mary Alford of Durham, NC, and Dura Martin of Piedmont; brothers, Johnny Martin of Pelion, and Jimmy Martin of Gaffney; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Visitation was July 6 at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer. The funeral service followed in the mortuary chapel. Burial was at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens.

Simpsonville – DeeAnna Leigh Gunn, 77, passed away Monday, July 8, 2024.
Born in Draper, VA, she was a daughter of the late Malcolm Laverne and Mary Rebeka Williams Gunn. She was formerly employed with AT&T and Samsung before retiring from Verizon. She was a member of Turning Point Ministries, a supporter of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and an advocate for the National League of Families POW/MIA. DeeAnna was also well known for being the neighborhood mom.
She is survived by, daughters, Angela Paige Harrington of Williamston, Erin Brooke O’Dell (Sam) of Effingham, and Tiffany Denise McGee of Simpsonville; sons, Pete Blake Murphy (Beth) of Pelzer and Mitchell Edward McGee, Jr. (Jennifer) of Florence; sisters, Rebecca Ann Gunn of Dublin, VA, Janice Faye Ratcliffe of Pulaski, VA, and Mary Jane Graser of Bullhead City, AZ; grandchildren, Matthew, Andrew, Victoria (J.C.), Skylar (Abby), Debbie (Wes), Brooke (Gatlin), Clay, Anna (Josh), Colby (Caitlin), Zachery (Sierra), Sarah (Daniel), Tristen (Heather), Cole (Meredith), and Nate; great-grandchildren, Daisy, Wesley, Marlena, Wyatt, Revan, Greyson, Caroline, Macoy, Blair, Walker, Claire, Link, and Wade; special family, Ralph McGee (Tammy), Rusty McGee (Tammy), and Donna Roerk (Gregg).
