The Anderson County Coroner’s office is investigating the death of an employee of the Anderson Regional Joint Water System, after he was apparently electrocuted while working on an air conditioning unit. The incident occurred July 18 around 9:50 am at a work site on Vanguard Rd. in Anderson.
According to reports, emergency personnel responded to a 911 report of a man that had been electrocuted and was in cardiac arrest. EMS personnel attempted resuscitative efforts and transported the victim to AnMed Emergency Center where he was pronounced deceased.
Anderson County Coroner Greg Shore identified the victim as Tristan Garrett Stone, 23 of Anderson. Stone was also a member of the Hopewell Fire Department.
According to Shore, Stone was working on an air conditioning unit at one of the ARJWS company facilities and apparently cut a live wire, while attempting to replace the fan motor in the ac unit and sustained an electrical shock.
The investigation is on-going by the Anderson County Office of the Coroner, the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office and the South Carolina Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation (OSHA).
Anderson County EMS, Medshore EMS, Anderson County Fire Department, Anderson County Sheriff’s Office and the Office of the Coroner responded to the incident.
