The Anderson County Legislative Delegation recently approved a total of $60,000 in SC Park and Recreation Development (PARD) grants for four projects in Anderson County.
Funding for projects include: Town of Williamston – $20,000 for improvements at Brookdale Park; Town of Starr – $20,000 for electrical system and other improvements at the Starr Walking Track; Town of Honea Path – $10,000 for emergency pool pump generator and Anderson County – $10,000 for walking track repair and rehabilitation and other improvements at Sandy Springs Community park (Mt. Zion Presbyterian Church).
Steve Newton of Anderson County presented the projects to the Legislative Delegation for their consideration at their June meeting.
The Park and Recreation Development (PARD) Fund is a state-funded, noncompetitive, reimbursable grant program for eligible local governments or special purpose district entities which provide recreational opportunities within each county. PARD assists in the development of new public recreation facilities or with the enhancement/renovation of existing facilities.
Projects need the endorsement of a majority weighted vote factor of County Legislative Delegation members. Eligible entities are notified of new allocation amounts each July.
