A welfare check on July 20 turned into an animal rescue in Anderson County and two people are facing charges.
Dessie Kight, 46, and Christian Voitle, 61, are each facing 26 counts each of Ill Treatment of Animals after several small dogs were found living in deplorable conditions.
According to reports, Uniform Patrol went to a home along Old Williamston Road in Anderson and immediately notified Animal Control after witnessing dogs locked up in cages and living in filth.
The Anderson County Animal Control Unit found urine-soaked carpet and several dogs needing medical attention.
The unit successfully seized 26 small bred dogs, mostly Shih Tzu’s during a search warrant and transported them to Anderson County P.A.W.S. for medical evaluation.
A magistrate judge signed 26 warrants and both Voitle and Kight are facing animal abuse charges. On July 30th, both suspects were booked into the Anderson County Detention Center.
