The Anderson County Coroner, South Carolina Highway Patrol and other agencies are investigating a motor vehicle crash hit and run that has resulted in the death of one person. The incident occurred around 5:30 pm Tuesday evening.
According to Anderson County Coroner, William Albert Green, 65, of Piedmont, was fatally injured when his vehicle was struck in the rear as he was attempting to make a left turn on Tall Oak Circle.
The investigation indicates Green was in a small pick-up truck traveling east on River
Road, to his residence in Piedmont, when his vehicle was stuck in the rear, causing his vehicle to overturn. Green was unrestrained and was partially ejected from the vehicle. The vehicle that struck the victim’s vehicle then fled the scene and was later found vacated off River Road in a wooded area.
The investigation is on-going by the Anderson County Office of the Coroner, the South Carolina Highway Patrol and the South Carolina Highway Patrol-MAIT Team.
