St. Baldrick’s Foundation, a 501c3 organization that raises money to fund Childhood Cancer research, will have a head-shaving event during the Spring Water Festival.
“Mr. Ed” Shiffler, Volunteer Event Coordinator for St. Baldrick’s said, “We shave our heads in solidarity with those children/kids that have or are going through cancer treatments, and who often lose their hair during those treatments.”
They will have a few t-shirts and wristbands available for a donation and will offer information about their virtual silent auction, with over $4000 in donated items up for bid.
They will have a head-shaving sometime Saturday afternoon. If you are interested in volunteering to have your head shaved, call 864.325.1664 or go to their website at https://www.stbaldricks.org/
St. Baldrick’s is the largest private funder of research grants seeking to find cures for various childhood cancers. In the first 25 years since SBF was founded, they have funded over $352 million in research grants.
“The goal of these events is to raise awareness and much needed funding for this urgent cause,” Shiffler said.
Since 2000, St. Baldrick’s Foundation volunteers have hosted more than 15,000 head-shaving events in 29 countries and 50 U.S. states, including more than 600,000 individuals who have shaved their heads.
Thanks in large part to these events, St. Baldrick’s has been able to grant more than $326 million to support the development of childhood cancer treatments that are as unique as each child.
