A 79-year-old male from Greenville died from injuries he received in an auto accident on Old Greenville Road last Thursday (Sept. 5).
According to reports, Anderson County 911 received a call at around 12:15pm for a three-car motor vehicle collision on Old Greenville Highway at Hamlin Road.
Anderson County Coroner Greg Shore stated that Mickey Lee Harper was treated at the scene and transported to Prisma Health in Greenville where he succumbed to his injuries at 1:18pm.
The preliminary investigation shows that the victim was traveling on Old Greenville Highway when he slowed due to the car in front of him stopping to make a left turn onto Hamlin Road. While slowing, the victim’s Ford Explorer was rear ended by a Chevy 2500 causing the victim to rear end the car in front of him. Harper was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of impact. The death has been ruled accidental.
Anderson County EMS, Medshore EMS, Piercetown Fire Department, Three and Twenty Fire Department, Anderson County Sheriff’s Office and the South Carolina Highway Patrol responded to the scene.
The investigation is ongoing by the Anderson County Office of the Coroner and the South Carolina Highway Patrol
