Anderson County Council approves fee in lieu agreements, rezoning of property

During a short meeting Tuesday, Anderson County Council approved several fee in lieu of tax agreements and rezoned property on Hwy. 76 near Pendleton.
Council unanimously approved third reading on an ordinance to grant a right of way easement to the City of Anderson to allow for installation of a sewer line.
Council approved second reading to enlarge a joint county industrial park (2010) with Greenville County for “Project Pegasus”.
Council approved second reading on an ordinance to amend an existing fee in lieu agreement for SMC, Inc for “Project Anderson Expansion” and second reading on another fee agreement for “Project Anderson Expansion” and related entities.
Council approved an ordinance to donate a section of railroad right-of-way owned by the County to the Pickens Railway Company. County Administrator Rusty Burns said the property is located on the southwest side of Duckhead Drive and that Pickens Railway will assume all responsibility and maintenance for upkeep of the rail line.
Council approved second reading on an ordinance requiring a form to provide certification from utility providers that utility services are available to proposed developments.
Council approved first reading to amend an ordinance related to the Human Relations Council.
Council approved first reading on an ordinance requiring the land use administrator to present a report to the Planning Commission regarding the proposed development.
Council approved first reading to amend the County Zoning Map to rezone 2.0 acres from Highway Commercial District (C-2) to Innovative Zoning District (IZD) on two parcels of land in the Denver Sandy Springs Precinct. The property is located on Hwy. 76, Pendleton. Two Councilmembers, Brett Sanders (District 4) and John B. Wright, Jr. (District 1) recused themselves from the vote due to related interests.
Council also approved a request by the Town of Iva to transfer a HVAC unit to the town. Administrator Burns said the unit was of no use to the County. The transfer is related to a new library being constructed in Iva.
Council approved requests for funds for the Homeland Park Community Watch/Fall Festival and the SC Genealogical Society.
