A suspect is in custody after a long search lasting several hours in a wooded area along Hwy. 29 North near Williamston last Thursday.
According to reports, the suspect, Anthony Kyle Jenkins, is charged with 17 counts of Possession of A Destructive Device and 1 count of Possession of a Weapon by a Felon.
Jenkins was taken into custody with the assistance from Anderson County Sheriff’s Office Uniform Patrol, ACSO Special Investigations Division, Drone and K9 Units, Emergency Management, State Law Enforcement Division (SLED_, the ATF, FBI and other local agencies.
The search for the suspect happened after a search warrant uncovered homemade explosive devices along Highway 29. The Bomb Squad investigation found that Jenkins used everyday household items and mixed them together to create small explosions.
When deputies approached the suspect in the woods where he lives, Jenkins took off on foot, prompting a large search.
Bond was denied on all charges.
Additional charges are possible following the investigation, authorities said.
