Williamston Police Department incident reports have returned to The Journal on a regular basis. Among incidents investigated during September and October are property damage, theft of items, dog incidents, breach of trust, loitering and more.
Williamston police officers recently investigated the following incidents:
Sept. 6 – Michael Thomas Jackson, 69, Mills St. Williamston reported damage to property in the amount of $1001. S. S. Hamdan investigated.
Sept. 18 – The Town of Williamston reported that a check written to Laser Print Plus in the amount of $8,000 had been deposited into a Navy Federal Credit Union account. It appeared that the name and address of the business to whom the check was written had been covered over and the name and address of Jordan West appears. The incident remains under investigation by Lt. L. B. Culbertson Jr.
Sept. 8 – Tammy Denise Taylor, 61, 14 Gray Drive, Williamston reported a 2-3 gallon gas can full of gas stolen. The gas and gas can were valued at $38. Officer L. D. Higginbotham-Mays investigated.
Sept. 7 – Bobby Joe Mattison, 67, 102 Market St., Williamston reported a dog bite incident that happened on Market St. Officer J. M. Cobb investigated.
Sept. 9 – Jacquelyn Alexandria Mason, 28, 17 Traxler Ave., reported a breach of trust incident. Sergeant D. R. Hart investigated.
Sept. 10 – Barbara Hamby, 76, 505 Oak Hill Rd., Belton reported an incident of transaction fraud in the amount of $25,000. Officer Ashley Brito investigated.
Sept. 13 – Christopher Charles Hanner, 44, 2407 Old Spartanburg Hwy., Woodruff was issued a citation for loitering at Mineral Spring Park. Officer S. S. Hamdan investigated.
Sept. 16 – Cameron Dakota Guin, 22, 10 Davis St., Williamston was arrested for larceny after Cpl. R. C. Burgess responded to 12 West Main St. The incident involved items valued at $700.
Sept. 19 – Donna Hill Green, 62, 416 Belton Dr. #D2 reported theft of items valued at $50 from a vehicle. W. A. Massingale, J. M. Cobb investigated.
Sept. 20 – Brittany Dianne Westall,33, 41 Market St., Williamston reported a purse valued at $20 taken from a vehicle. Officer Jeremy S. Grinnell investigated.
Sept. 20 – Levi Daniel Messer, 21, 224 Lisa Ln, Piney Flats, TN, was issued a summons for operating a motorcycle with no motorcycle license and operating a motor vehicle without insurance after WPD received complaints about a motorcycle on Anderson Street. Officer S. S. Hamdan investigated.
Oct. 3 – Ruth Ann Lukes, 61, 16 Ernest St., Pelzer reported transaction fraud in the amount of $540. According to reports, five transactions occurring in the city limits of Williamston. One was a Truist ATM withdrawal from 1 N Hamilton in the amount of $500. Also a debit card purchase at Ex-Trip in the amount of $40.28. Lukes stated she was waiting on a permanent card but never got it in the mail and that her mail box was halfway open and nothing inside the day before. Lukes was issued a victim form for transaction fraud. Officer J. M. Cobb investigated.
Oct. 3 – Noah Daniel Cox, 34, 7 Springdale Dr., Williamston reported a bedroom window in broken by a rock that was found on the floor inside the house. The incident remains under investigation. Ashley Brito was reporting officer.
Oct. 4 – Sherri Ann Thomas Couch, 40, 19 Blake St., Belton was issued a summons for manner of driving after a vehicle was observed traveling 48 mph in a 35 mph zone on Belton Dr. According to reports, Thomas/Couch had revoked SC driver license. A passenger in the vehicle was allowed to take possession of the vehicle. Officer M. B. Jackson investigated.
Oct. 5 – Jason Adam Wilson, 34, 3826 Gibson St., Columbia, SC was arrested for possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, driving under suspension (3rd), hjabitual offender and hit and run property damage after officers responded to a motor vehicle accident at 416 Belton Dr. According to reports a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado with a long trailer was driven behind the complex where a wire box owned by Duke Energy was damaged causing the entire complex to lose power. Wilson stated that he was at the address cutting fallen trees however paperwork he provided stated he was supposed to be at an address off Exit 27, I85. Wilson called his boss and was overheard stating that he was at the complex to drop off a speaker to his ex-girlfriend. The boss cofirmed to officers that he was not supposed to be at the address of the complex. During a search, an off white crystal like substance was found in a cigarette box in his pocket. The substance field tested positive to be methamphetamine and weighed one gram. Wilson was also charged with possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine. Damage to the Duke Energy electrical box was estimated at $10,000. Wilson was arrested and transported to ACDC without incident. Officer L. D. Higginbotham-Mays investigated.
Oct. 7 – A 17 year old white male juvenile was issued a summons for driving under suspension and manner of driving after officer S. Hamdan observed a white dodge truck driving 42 mph in a 25 mph zone on Greenville Drive. The juveniles license was suspended for failure to pay a traffic ticket. The registered owner of the vehicle came and picked it up.
Oct. 7 – Officer J. M. Cobb responded to ACE Hardware, 105 N. Hamilton St. in reference to a shoplifting incident. According to reports, a white male was observed on camera surveillance pulling merchandise off the counter and placing it in his pockets. The suspect was wearing a gray shirt, light color shorts and a ball cap. Items stolen included a cable with lock valued at$6, crimper light duty $17, mini bungee cord 6 pack $8.
Oct. 8 – Officers observed a suspicious vehicle located at Dollar General, 526 West Main Street. Upon investigation, the odor of marijuana was coming from the vehicle which was searched. A plastic baggy containing a green leafy substance believed to be marijuana along with a THC vape device was found in the vehicle. The items were taken for destruction. No arrest was made. Officer W. A. Massingale investigated.
Oct. 8 – Officer J. M. Cobb responded to 118 W. Second St. in reference to an animal complaint. According to reports, the dog, a white mixed breed large canine, had tried attacking a chicken in a neighbors yard, had other incidents involving officers reported, and no one wanting to comply with ownership. Animal control was called and the dog was taken to Anderson County Paws.
Oct. 9 – Officer J. Grinnell responded to a Town of Williamston access road on Crescent Drive in reference to an arson. According to reports, a white male was on the property burning items which apeared to be a piece of cardboard and a large electrical cable used on a washing machine. The suspect was identified as Brandon Neil Duvall. Duvall attempted to flee the scene in a 2006 Volkswagen passat but was blocked by a patrol vehicle. He exited the car and fled on foot towards Mattison St. Officers were unable to located Duvall, who had three outstanding warrants with Anderson County. A warrant was also issued in Williamston for fire, regulations of fire on certain land. The vehicle he was driving was towed and the incident remains under investigation.
Oct. 10 – Brandon Neil Duvall was located and arrested after Cpl. Burgess and Officer J. Grinnell responded to the area of Mattison St. in regards to Duvall possibly being in the area. After a brief search of the area, Duvall was observed walking in the woodline behind Rockwood Drive. He ignored officer commands and continued walking toward S. Hamilton. An Anderson County K9 unit was called to assist with the search. Within approximately 2 minutes, Duvall was located in thick brush and was arrested and transported to WPD.
Oct. 10 – Carl Benton Moore III was issued a summons for driving under suspension after a white Ford F150 was observed on S. Hamilton St. with sparks coming from the end of a trailer. The sparks were caused by loose chains dragging the roadway. He was issued a warning for the equipment violation and a UTT citation for driving under suspension.
