The Anderson County Coroner’s Office and the Anderson County Fire Investigation Unit are investigating the death of a 91 year old man after a house fire in the Piedmont community last Thursday.
According to Coroner Greg Shor, a 911 call was received just after midnight on Oct. 24 reporting a grassfire at 218 Wyatt Road in Piedmont. When fire personnel arrived on scene it was determined the fire was a house that was engulfed in flames which had collapsed to the ground.
Upon arrival of the Fire Department, they found a two-story structure with heavy fire damage and after extinguishing the fire, firefighters were able located the victim in the structure.
Anderson County Coroner Greg Shore identified the victim as Bobby Bruce Orr of Piedmont.
The preliminary investigation indicated that the Orr died of smoke inhalation and thermal injuries. There appears to be no indication of foul play. The victim lived at the residence alone. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
The Anderson County Fire Department, Anderson County EMS and Medshore Ambulance Service responded to the scene.
