Williamston Town Council incumbent Tabatha Austin is running for re-election to the Ward 3 seat she currently holds.
Austin and husband Brian and their two children, Emma and Justin, reside in Williamston Ward 3. Since moving to Williamston in 2007, the Austin family has become an integral part of the community, establishing themselves as reliable community members.
Since Tabatha’s initial term, several positive changes have occurred in the community, thanks to the efforts of the Mayor and Council, including:
Sale of the Winn-Dixie property to Ingles (fingers crossed they will call Williamston home soon)
Improvements to Mineral Spring Park with new power hook ups for food trucks, restroom facility renovation and other improvements.
There has been an addition of new Pickleball Courts in Mineral Spring Park and updates to basketball courts in Mineral Spring Park and Brookdale Park.
During her time as a Council member, there has been construction of many new residences in town.
Also water and sewer lines in the Mill Hill area of town have been upgraded.
Improvement made to the Williamston ballfields.
Increase funding to special interest groups, increase in Hospitality Tax fund revenues.
A new playground area will be opening soon in Mineral Spring Park.
A new picnic shelter is being constructed in Brookdale Park and there are future expansion and upgrades planned for Brookdale.
Austin said if granted the honor of re-election, she envisions several goals and dreams for the town including:
Competitive salaries for our dedicated police and fire departments, as well as town employees.
Enhancements to our infrastructure.
Upgrades to our parks and youth programs.
An open channel of communication for all residents.
A continued effort to provide innovative ideas for thoughtful improvements to our town.
“I pledge to prioritize every community voice, remaining an engaged council member who is easily accessible via phone, at local events, and through social media platforms,” Austin said. “Throughout my first term, I have showcased my efficacy as a council member, bringing forth a female leadership perspective that has infused fresh insight and balance into our team.”
“With your support, we can continue to move Williamston forward into a bright future. Please cast your vote for me on Tuesday, November 5th!”
