Ready or not Election Day is finally here.
Voters will go the polls Tuesday for the November 5 general election.
The general election includes a number of local and state offices and voters will also choose their preference for President and Vice-President of the Country.
Nov. 5 general election includes the following candidates:
Voters can choose from the following for President and Vice President – Donald J Trump / JD Vance (Republican) or Kamala D Harris /Tim Walz (Democrat).
Other Presidential/VicePresidential candidates that are on the ballot include:
Randall A Terry/Stephen E Broden (Constitution), Cornel West/Melina Abdulla (United Citizens), Jill Stein/Rudolph Butch Ware (Green), Chase Oliver/Mike ter Maat (Libertarian), Claudia De La Cruz/Karina Garcia (Workers).
For the U.S. House of Representatives, District 3 seat – Voters have the choice of Sheri Biggs (Republican) or Bryon L Best (Democrat).
Republican incumbent Mike Gambrell is running unopposed for the State Senate, District 4 seat.
State Senate, District 3 – Incumbent Richard Cash (Republican) is facing opposition by Jessicka Spearman (Democrat).
State House of Representatives, District 9 – Blake Sanders (Republican) is running unopposed.
State House of Representatives, District 1 incumbent Thomas Beach (Republican) is running unopposed.
Other choices for Anderson County voters include:
State House of Representatives, District 7 – Lee Gilreath ( Republican) or Hunter Savirino (Libertarian).
The following are running unopposed: Solicitor Circuit 10 – Micah Black (Republican); Sheriff – Chad McBride (Republican); Clerk of Court – C Reena Thomason (Republican); Coroner – Greg L Shore (Republican); Auditor – John Benca (Republican); County Treasurer – Jason P Phillips (Republican); County Council, District 7 – M. Cindy Wilson (Republican).
Other offices on local ballots include:
Soil and Water District Commission – Jay P Copelan.
School Trustee District 1 Area 2 – Mike Wilson; School Trustee District 1 Area 6 – Brenda Sims Ellison.
School Trustee District 1 Area 3 – Incumbent David Moochie Merritt is facing a challenge by John JC Neel.
Fire District Commissioner, Piedmont Public Service Area for Anderson and Greenville Counties- Running for a nonpartisan seat on the PPSA are Beth Owens Dickson, Jackson P Lollis, Rudy Rhodes; Charlene E Spelts and Tracy Stephens.
Williamston – Incumbent Mayor Rockey Burgess has no opposition. Ward Four Council – Incumbent Chris Alexander has no opposition.
Williamston voters will also decide between Incumbent Tabatha Austin and David Rogers for the Ward Three Council seat.
Constitutional Amendment/Anderson County Road Tax Referendum
There is a State Constitutional Amendment regarding who can vote in elections in South Carolina. The amendment changes one word from the current law, all citizens can vote to only citizens can vote.
Anderson County voters will also decide if they want to approve a referendum for a one cent County Transportation Sales Tax to provide funding to improve roads and bridges throughout the County.
