In the General Election, voters across the nation choose their preference for President and Vice-President of the Country with Donald J. Trump coming out the winner.
In Anderson County, voters clearly went for Donald J Trump and JD Vance (Republican) for President and Vice President. Trump/Vance received 65,305 votes to 23,910 for Kamala D Harris and Tim Walz (Democrat).
For the U.S. House of Representatives, District 3 seat – Voters chose Sheri Biggs (Republican) over Bryon L Best (Democrat) 64,922 to 20,925.
Republican incumbent Mike Gambrell running unopposed for the State Senate, District 4 seat received 22,525 votes. There were 198 write-in votes cast.
State Senate, District 3 Incumbent Richard Cash (Republican) received 44,942 votes to Jessicka Spearman (Democrat) 14,765.
State House of Representatives, District 9 – Blake Sanders (Republican) running unopposed received 13,521 votes. There were 189 write-in votes cast.
State House of Representatives, District 1 incumbent Thomas Beach (Republican) running unopposed received 11,849 votes. There were 179 write-in votes.
State House of Representatives, District 7 – Lee Gilreath (Republican) received 9,149 votes to 1,041 for Hunter Savirino (Libertarian).
Republican April Cromer garnered 15,845 votes to defeat Democrat challenger Tony Wagoner who had 5,481 votes.
The following were running unopposed: Solicitor Circuit 10 – Micah Black (Republican); Sheriff – Chad McBride (Republican); Clerk of Court – C Reena Thomason (Republican); Coroner – Greg L Shore (Republican); Auditor – John Benca (Republican); County Treasurer – Jason P Phillips (Republican); County Council, District 7 – M. Cindy Wilson (Republican); Soil and Water District Commission – Jay P Copelan.
In the Anderson School District One Area 3 Trustee race, John JC Neel was the winner with 9,211 votes to 8,712 for incumbent David “Moochie” Merritt.
Running unopposed for School Trustee District 1 Area 2 were Mike Wilson and School Trustee District 1 Area 6, Brenda Sims Ellison.
Michael S. Upton was running unopposed for the County Board of Education District 2 seat.
For the Piedmont Public Service Area for Anderson and Greenville Counties – Running for two nonpartisan commissioner seats on the PPSA were Beth Owens Dickson, Jackson P Lollis, Rudy Rhodes; Charlene E Spelts and Tracy Stephens.
Beth Owens Dickson (673) and Rudy Rhodes (785) were the two top vote getters for the two seats on the PPSA. Anderson County results were Beth Owens Dickson 115, Jackson P Lollis 78, Rudy Rhodes 115; Charlene E Spelts 96 and Tracy Stephens 82.
Williamston voters chose David Rogers over incumbent Tabatha Austin for the Ward Three Council seat. Incumbent Mayor Rockey Burgess had no opposition. Ward Four Council – Incumbent Chris Alexander had no opposition. (See separate story)
On the State Constitutional Amendment regarding who can vote in elections in South Carolina – The amendment changed one word from the current law, all citizens can vote to only citizens can vote.
In Anderson County 74,778 voters were in favor of the change, 8,711 were not.
Anderson County voters stated they did not want to approve a referendum for a one cent County Transportation Sales Tax to provide funding to improve roads and bridges throughout the County by a margin of 40,121 in favor and 44,930 against.
On part 2 of the tax question, regarding a bond to help pay for improvements, vote 41,856 were in favor, while 42,373 were opposed.
