James Henry Young

January 21, 1946 – November 10, 2024

 James “Jimmy” Henry Young, 78, passed away peacefully at his home on November 10, 2024. 

 He was the youngest son of the late Oscar Leo and Lillie Mae Rainey Young. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Martha Elizabeth Young Lollis and Dorothy Jean Young; brothers, Edward Leon Young, Oscar Willis Young, and Thomas Lewis Young; son-in-law, Edwin Lane Roberson; and step great grandchild, Amir Jackson

 He was twice married, first to Marlene Elizabeth Browning Young. From this union, he had two children, Marlene Cherie Young Roberson and James Brian Young. His second marriage was to Teresa Anne Williams Young. 

 He is survived by the following: his wife, Teresa Young, of West Pelzer; daughter, Cherie Young Roberson, of Williamston and son, James Brian Young and his husband, Shawn W. McKillop, of Grand Prairie, TX; sister, Mary Otis Young Williams, of Williamston; two grandsons, Jeremy Brett and wife, Alysia Roberson, and Hayden Lane Roberson, of Williamston, and granddaughter, Quinn Roberson. 

 Surviving from the second marriage are stepson, Jermaine Williams, and step grandchildren, Trinity and Cameron Williams, and step-great grandchildren, Amiriana Williams, Dreama and Dior Maddox. 

 No services will be held at the request of the deceased. The families will be at their respective homes.

Warren Timothy Turner

Sept. 18, 1964-Oct. 30, 2024

Williamston, SC – Warren Timothy Turner passed away Wed., Oct. 30 at his home. He was 60 years old.

Born in Greenville, SC on Sept. 18, 1964, he was the son of Marvin (Jack) Turner and Dorothy Merritt Turner of Williamston.

Surviving his sister Jane (Charles) Beddingfield,  two brothers,  Wayne Turner of Williamston and Danny Turner of Welford, along with his nephew, Robert (Melanie) Beddingfield of Sandy Springs and two nieces, Samantha Turner of Anderson and Hollie Beddingfield of Williamston;  five great-nieces, Savannah (Kaleb) Whitacar, Kaitlyn, Korliegh,Khloe, Calia and two great-nephews, Hunter and Cole.

Timmy worked at the Estes Plant and also worked in Security.

There will be a memorial service at Williamston Church of God on Nov. 23 at 3:00. 

Daniel Holliday

Daniel Emory Holliday of Belton, 85, husband of the late Toni Cooper Holliday, passed away Tuesday, November 12, 2024.

He was twice married, first to Sherling Browning Mims.

 Born in Belton, he was the son of the late Fred Cox and Jessie Cooper Holliday. He retired from the United States Air Force and was employed with the Greenville County School District. He was a member of Washington Baptist Church. 

Survivors include daughter, Sandra Holliday Culbertson; son, Robert Emory Holliday; step-son, Bryon Culbertson; 13 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

 The family will receive friends 6:00 – 7:30 p.m. Thursday, November 14, at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer.

The funeral service will be held Friday, November 15, at 1:00 p.m. at Washington Baptist Church with burial following in the church cemetery.

Earl Cobb

Earl Steele Cobb of Simpsonville, 92, husband of the late Doris Mae Hughey Cobb, passed away Wednesday, November 6, 2024.

 Born in Pelzer, he was the son of the late Joseph and Ada Crawford Cobb. He retired from Cobb Associates and was a United States Marine veteran of the Korean War.

 Survivors include son, Gary Cobb of Duncan; daughter, Pam Spearman of Simpsonville; daughter-in-law, Debbie Cobb of Simpsonville; sisters, Elizabeth “Lib” Darby of Belton and Linda Thompson of Pelzer; five grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

A private burial will be held at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Anderson.

James McGuffin

James Mitchell “Mickey” McGuffin of Pelzer, 71, husband of Deborah Jean Burroughs McGuffin, passed away Wednesday, November 6, 2024 at his home.

 Born in Greenville, he was a son of the late Willie Lee and Eleanor Pauline Bynum McGuffin. He retired from Solvay. 

 In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughter, Michelle Peay; sons, Richard and Matthew McGuffin; four grandchildren; sister, Louise Grant.

The family received friends November 12 at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer with the funeral service following in the mortuary chapel. Burial was at Greenville Memorial Gardens.

Nelson Jenkins

Nelson G. Jenkins of Piedmont, 95, passed away Sunday, November 10, 2024.

 Born in Piedmont, he was the son of the late N.G. and Lula Coker Jenkins. He retired from Milliken Cushman Plant and was a veteran of the United States Army.

 Survivors include nephews, Steve Erexson and Terry Day; niece, Tammy Turner; and great-niece, Katie MacKnight (Paul).

A graveside service will be held Sunday, November 17, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. at Greenville Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Richard M. Campbell Veterans Nursing Home, 4605 Belton Hwy., Anderson, SC 29621.
