The Anderson County Coroner’s office is investigating a single vehicle motor vehicle crash that occurred around 2:40 pm Thursday in Piedmont that resulted in the death of a woman. The wreck happened in the 2300 block of River Road in Piedmont,
According to Coroner Greg Shore Linda Mae Cox, 79 of Piedmont was fatally injured when she lost control of the vehicle, traveled off the roadway striking several trees and embankment.
Shore said Cox was the only occupant of the vehicle and was unrestrained at the time of the accident. The victim was apparently traveling home and was approximately two miles from her residence.
The Anderson County Fire Department, Medshore Ambulance Service, Anderson County EMS, South Carolina Highway Patrol and the Office of the Coroner responded to the SC today. The victim was pronounced deceased on the scene by EMS personnel.
The investigation is on-going by the Anderson County Office of the Coroner and the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
