During their December 10 meeting, Pelzer Town Council amended their budget ordinance to add a line item for revitalization.
Council unanimously approved second reading on the amended budget which includes a transfer of $100,000 from the General Fund to the line item to cover revitalization related expenditures.
On first reading in November, Mayor Will Ragland said that the line item was in last year’s budget but was not used and that it needed to be put back in this year. One of those expenditures was a property purchase made earlier in the year in which a dilapidated house on the property was torn down and removed.
A line item was also added to the budget ordinance for July 4th. $6000 from the Special projects line item will be transferred to the account to cover expenses for the July 4th celebration including fireworks.
During the December meeting, Town Clerk Cheryl Bates also gave the police coverage report for November. Bates said there were 33 traffic stops, 67 contacts, 14 calls for service and no arrests.
A council work session was scheduled 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 18.
Agenda items for discussion were to include: Rules of Procedure, Gym use, Parks, Setback and Historic Renovations.
