The Snow Campaign Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution hosted a moving Wreaths Across America ceremony in Pelzer Saturday to honor the sacrifices of our nation’s veterans.
The event, held on the grounds of the Pine Lawn Cemetery in Pelzer, brought together community members, local leaders, and volunteers to remember and honor the men and women who have served in the United States Armed Forces.
The ceremony featured an inspiring address by James Campbell, who spoke on the theme “Living with Purpose.” His words served as a heartfelt reminder of the enduring legacy of those who served and the responsibility we all share to teach of, and honor, their sacrifices.
“Volunteers played a crucial role in making the day memorable,” said Snow Campaign Chapter, NSDAR Alisha Tuttle who helped organize the event. “They worked tirelessly to set up, break down, and ensure the event ran smoothly. Many also took the time to place wreaths on the graves of veterans, pausing to remember each one by name and reflect on their service.”
Local leaders, including Pelzer Mayor Will Ragland and Chairwoman of the Pelzer Planning Commission Laura Rainey, were in attendance, showing their support for the event and its mission. The Town of Pelzer generously donated hot cocoa, seating, and printed programs for the ceremony, ensuring everyone could participate comfortably. Sea Scout Ship 142 (SSS Tern) of Powdersville served as Color Guard.
“This weekend’s ceremony was a touching reminder of the importance of honoring our veterans, both past and present,” Tuttle said. “The Snow Campaign Chapter is grateful for the community’s support in remembering, honoring, and teaching the value of service and sacrifice.”
Looking ahead to 2025, Wreaths Across America has announced an exciting opportunity: all wreaths sponsored between December 14, 2024, and January 17, 2025, will be matched. These wreaths will be placed on next year’s National Wreaths Across America Day, scheduled for Saturday, December 14, 2025.
