Anderson County deputies successfully stopped a dangerous suspect along I-85 Monday afternoon. Erik Devitis, 39, is in custody after he refused to stop for blue lights, crossing from Georgia into South Carolina.
Lavonia Police originally began pursuing the suspect’s Toyota Camry just after 12:45pm, until he crossed into Anderson County’s jurisdiction.
For everyone’s safety, ACSO deputies forcibly stopped the suspect’s sedan near the Clemson Boulevard exit and a K9 assisted in apprehending Devitis.
The suspect is wanted out of Gwinnett County.
The suspect and the case are still being investigated and additional charges are possible.
In Anderson County, Devitis is charged with Failure to Stop for Blue Lights, Fugitive from Justice, 2 counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance, Malicious Injury to Property and Resisting Arrest.
Gwinnett County also has their own original charges.
