Michael Ray Orr, 57 of Pelzer, passed away Friday, January 10, 2025.
Born in Anderson, he was a son of the late Jack David and Gaynell Hamby Orr. He was a member of White Plains Baptist Church.
Survivors include sister, Sarah Orr; and brothers, Steven Orr and David Orr.
A visitation was held January 14 at White Plains Baptist Church. The funeral service was held at 2:00 pm in the church with burial in the church cemetery.

Malinda Casey
Mary Malinda Bright Casey of Williamston, 82, widow of Charles “Chuck” Glenn Casey, passed away Sunday, January 12, 2025.
Born in Greer, she was a daughter of the late Willie Leroy and Nellie Campbell Bright. She retired from Krispy Kreme in Greenville.
Survivors include daughter, Tonya Chandler of Belton; son, Scott Casey of Williamston; sister, Lola Jones of Eden, MD; brother, Bruce Bright of Allen, MD; nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends 11:00 – 11:45 a.m. Friday, January 17, at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer with the funeral service following at 12:00 p.m. in the mortuary chapel. Burial will be at Greenville Memorial Gardens.

Bill Whitt
Piedmont – William Thomas “Bill” Whitt, 92, passed away Friday, December 20, 2024.
Born in Pelzer, he was a son of the late John David Whitt, Sr. and Maude Boren Whitt. Bill was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army and continued to be a member of the VFW Club after his service. He retired from AT&T Electric after being an installation technician for many years.
Bill was a kind and passionate man. He loved music, going dancing or playing music with his friends throughout his life. He was loyal, honorable, and always kept his word.
He is survived by daughter, Robbie Jean Lopez; and grandchildren, Lysandra Burleson and Geoffery Humphries who will always remember him lovingly as their Gramps.
He was predeceased by his loving daughter, Donna Lynn Whitt.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, January 16, 2025, at M.J. “Dolly” Cooper Veterans Cemetery.

Douglas Cowart
Piedmont – Douglas “Doug” Wesley Cowart, 84, husband of 64 1/2 years to Pat Brookshire Cowart, passed away Friday, January 10, 2025.
Born in Piedmont, he was a son of the late Edgar Lewis Cowart, Sr. and Ethel King Cowart. Doug was active in fire service for 30 years, having served as Fire Chief and Town Administrator of the Piedmont Fire Department for 24 years and loved every minute of it. He received the Order of the Palmetto in 1993 from Governor Carroll Campbell for his distinguished service and contributions to the community. He also loved being a dispatcher with the South Carolina Highway Patrol for 10 years.
Doug loved to drag race, work on old cars, and dearly loved his ‘67 Mustang! He was a caring and compassionate man who loved helping people and seeing people smile. He always had a smile and kind word for everyone. Doug was a huge animal lover and after retiring, he loved to spend time with his “Baby”, Pat and their precious little dog, Rudy. Doug loved God and his family more than anything. He will be missed tremendously, but we know we will see him once again.
In addition to the love of his life and wife of sixty-four and a half years, he is survived by daughters, Lisa Cason and Mistie Cowart whom he loved more than life; granddaughter, Kylee Perkins; grandsons, Dakota Reeves and Jaxon West that were the apple of his eye; sister, Evelyn Roper; brother, Lewis “Brudge” Cowart (Shirley); nieces, Donna Roper, Sheryl Moss (Eric); Robin Cowart, Nanci Weeks (Larry); several great nieces and nephews; and great-great nieces and nephews.
Doug had an extended family that meant the world to him, Tiffany Burns; Teresa Burns; Cruz and Dee West; and Ray and Sharon Guthrie.
He was predeceased by a sister, Katie Cowart Vaughn; son-in-law, Andy Cason; brother-in-law, Donald Roper; extended family member, Chunk Burns; and special niece, Candace Guthrie.
The family will receive friends 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Sunday, January 19, at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer.
The funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 20, in the mortuary chapel with burial following at Greenville Memorial Gardens.
The family will be at the home of Ray and Sharon Guthrie, 109 Sherman Court, Piedmont, SC and available to receive visitors on Saturday, January 18.
