Louise Balentine
Piedmont – Sarah Louise “Tootsie” Jordan Balentine, 98, passed away peacefully Thursday, January 30, 2025, surrounded by her family.
Born in Piedmont, she was the daughter of the late Albert John and Janie Bell Sherman Jordan. She retired from Mac Shore Classics.
Louise was known for her deep love of Christ in unwavering faith, her family, and her dedication to her church and community. She was a lifelong member of Shiloh Methodist Church, Piedmont. Louise’s faith and service to the church were cornerstones of her life. She was an active participant in the Shiloh Methodist Women and served with devotion in the Adult Chancel Choir for many years. Her love for God and her church was evident in all she did. She touched the lives of countless members of her church family.
She is survived by her only son, Lanny Wayne Balentine (Lynne); beloved grandchildren, Charlotte Spivey (Bradford) and Brandon Balentine; great-grandchildren, Garreth, Wren, and Harlan; and a precious great-grandbaby on the way.
Louise shared a special bond of friendship with Josie Leverett. This friendship brought much joy and companionship. The family is grateful for Josie’s support and friendship throughout the years.
Visitation was from 5:00 to 7:00 pm Monday, February 3, at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer. The funeral service was held at 11:00 am Tuesday, February 4, at Shiloh Methodist Church with burial following in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Shiloh Methodist Church Lighting Fund, P.O. Box 159, Piedmont, SC 29673, a cause that was close to Louise’s heart.
The family would like to express their deep appreciation to the Shiloh Methodist Women, who will serve as the honorary escort at Louise’s funeral service, honoring her many years of service and faithfulness to the church.
Louise’s life was a beautiful reflection of love, faith, and service. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her, but her legacy will continue to inspire and live on through her family, friends, and the community she touched so deeply.

Mary Garner
Oleen Brooks Garner of Pelzer, 88, wife of the late Larry Clyde Garner, passed away Saturday, February 1, 2025.
Born in Six Mile, she was a daughter of the late Claude Obediah and Lula Mae Smith Brooks. She retired from Gerber Childrenswear and attended Southside Baptist Church.
She is survived by daughters, Gayle McQuiddy, and Gloria Callaham; and son, Bryan Garner; sisters, Wanda Vest and Frances Staton; brother, Tom Brooks; thirteen grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and six great-great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, February 5, from 1:00 to 1:45 pm at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer with the service to follow at 2:00 pm in the mortuary chapel. Burial will be at Greenville Memorial Gardens.
Billy Bruce
Pelzer – Billy Wayne Bruce, 75, husband of Cathy Stone Bruce, passed away Thursday, January 30, 2025.
Born in Pelzer, he was a son of the late Earl Dendy and Annie Grace Campbell Bruce. He was a veteran of the United States Army and a member of Crossroads Assembly of God where he served as a deacon, song leader, adult Sunday school teacher, and did lawn maintenance in past years. His greatest joy and love was his family and the Lord Jesus.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by son, Ronald Bruce (Melissa); daughter, Rebecca Bruce; granddaughter, Katie Hargraves (Ethan); grandson, Austin Phillps (Chelsea); great-grandson, Eli Phillips; brother, Rick Bruce; and sisters, Patti Wiest (Dave) and Pam Roche (Rob).
The family will receive friends 10:00 – 11:15 a.m. Friday, February 7, at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer with the funeral service following at 11:30 a.m. in the mortuary chapel. Burial will be at M.J. “Dolly” Cooper Veterans Cemetery.

Faye McCullough
Linda Faye Davis McCullough of Pelzer, 76, wife of Edward Richard McCullough, passed away Sunday, February 2, 2025.
Born in Pelzer, she was a daughter of the late John Frank and Orena Pearson Davis. She retired from Gilliam’s Meat and Orchard View Meats. She was a member of Bethel Church of God of the Abrahamic Faith.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by daughters, Sherri Willis of Pelzer and Rhonda Burdick of Piedmont; brother, Eric Davis of Belton; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
The family will receive friends 12:30 – 2:00 p.m. Thursday, February 6, at Bethel Church of God of Abrahamic Faith with the funeral service following at 2:00 p.m. at the church. Burial will be at Greenville Memorial Gardens.

Williamston – Dannis Delaine Bearden Spearman, 85, widow of James Douglas “Doug” Spearman, passed away Thursday, January 30, 2025, at her home.
Born in Anderson, she was a daughter of the late Ashmore and Pauline James Bearden. She retired from Poe Mill in Greenville and was a member of Eastview Baptist Church.
Survivors include daughters, Deanna Sloan (Timothy) and Deborah Roberts (George); sister, Dolly Harrelson; grandchildren, DeAnna Morgan (Randy), Erik Roberts (Tori), Jacob Timothy Sloan, and McKenna Danielle Sloan; and great-grandchildren, Leigh Winstead, Mitchell Mitchell, Adelaide Goepper, Austin Nolan Roberts, and Erik Landon Roberts.
She was predeceased by daughter, Delaine Owens; great-grandson, Bryson Roberts; and 6 brothers and sisters.
The family received friends 11:45 a.m. – 12:15 p.m. Tuesday, February 4, at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer with the funeral service following at 12:30 p.m. in the mortuary chapel. Burial was at Graceland East Memorial Park.
