A motorcycle and SUV collision that occurred around 7:15 pm Sunday near Belton resulted in the death of the motorcycle rider. Anderson County Coroner Greg Shore identified the victim as Tommy Kevin Hamby, 35, of Belton.
According to the Coroner’s office, the victim died as a result of multiple traumatic injuries secondary to blunt force trauma and the manner of death has been ruled accidental.
The investigation indicates that the victim was the operator of a motorcycle traveling east on Anderson Street near Belton, when an SUV traveling west on Anderson Street attempted to turn into a private driveway and was struck by the motorcycle. The victim was apparently traveling home to his residence when the collision occurred.
According to the Coroner’s office, the victim was wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.
The Anderson County Fire Department, Medshore Ambulance Service, Anderson County EMS, South Carolina Highway Patrol and the Office of the Coroner responded. The collision occurred in the 800 block of Anderson Street.
The investigation is on-going by the Anderson County Office of the Coroner and the South
Carolina Highway Patrol.
