The Piedmont Historical Preservation Society will sponsor a program featuring information about the Historic Piedmont Dam at 2:30, Sunday, March 30. The presentation, Historic Piedmont Dam – Past, Present, Future, will take place at the Piedmont Community Building. Admission is $5.
Piedmont’s mill dam is the oldest continuously power producing dam in South Carolina. Piedmont Manufacturing constructed two dams powering Mills #1 and #2 prior to raising the height of the current structure before Mill #3 was in full operation.
“Join us for this fun and informative program and learn about the importance of the footbridge and the dam in the history of Piedmont Manufacturing Company and the mill village residents and what is coming next,” spokesperson Charlene Spelts said.
