A juvenile student at the Anderson Districts 1 and 2 Career and Technology Center was arrested Wednesday for possession of firearms on school property.
According to Williamston Police Chief Kevin Marsee School Resource Officers of the Williamston Police Department received credible information about a 16-year-old student possessing firearms on school property.
Officers acted quickly to investigate the situation and a search of the student’s vehicle resulted in the discovery of two firearms: a Taurus 9mm handgun and a Scout .44 caliber rifle.
The student was immediately taken into custody and transported to the Department of Juvenile Justice Holding Facility in Columbia, South Carolina. The juvenile is currently charged with Possession of Firearms on School Property.
According to Marsee this was an isolated incident and handled quickly to minimize any danger.
“The Williamston Police Department wishes to extend its appreciation to the Career Center faculty, School Resource Officers, investigators, and all involved personnel for their diligent actions in ensuring the safety of the school and the surrounding community,” Chief Marsee said.
