On Monday, April 1, the Anderson County Probate Court, in partnership with the South Carolina Department of Mental Health (SCDMH), executed the first ever Anderson-Oconee-Pickens (AOP) electronically-signed Detention Order.
“The ability to electronically sign mental health detention orders allows for the documents to be executed after hours so SCDMH staff, law enforcement agencies, and judges can get these patients help much faster” said Anderson County Probate Judge James T. Foster. “This new partnership with mental health care providers in the Anderson-Oconee-Pickens area helps us bring our regional resources into immediate action to assist our citizens in their hour of need.”
“AnMed Health and the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office are both pleased with this new system”, said Foster. “It allows us as a community to ensure that our citizens get the help they need quickly when they are vulnerable, and time is of the essence.”
Anderson County extends its deepest appreciation to Judge David Allison in Pickens County, Judge Danny Singleton in Oconee County, Ms. Amy L Kilpatrick and Mrs. Mandy Myers with SCDMH Mobile Crisis, and the South Carolina Department of Mental Health for their participation in this effort to provide helpful and efficient assistance to those in need in our communities.
