Greenville County Deputies were on scene assisting the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office with the service of an arrest warrant from an incident that occurred in their jurisdiction when an officer involved shooting took place.
According to reports, at around 1:45 pm Wednesday (Apr. 30), deputies were conducting surveillance in the 800 block of S. Piedmont Highway when they made contact with an armed subject on a dirt road. An officer involved shooting took place involving one Greenville County Sheriff’s Deputy. The suspect was struck and transported to the hospital by helicopter to receive treatment for his injury.
The deputy will be placed on paid administrative leave which is standard with protocol.

Greenville EMS responded along with medical helicopter. Piedmont firefighters also on scene. Highway 20 was closed near Southside Circle. Per standard procedure, the officer involved shooting is being investigated by SLED.
