Pig in the Park BBQ Festival and Cookoff this weekend

The annual Pig in the Park Barbecue Festival and Cookoff will return to Williamston’s Mineral Spring Park this weekend. The event features a weekend of championship cooking along with barbecue, food sales, vendors and other activities.
Activities will begin at noon on Friday with food sales, craft/vendor sales and children’s play area. The Combo Kings will be performing live music at the Amphitheater Stage for the Envision Williamston Friday night concert.
Saturday hours will be 10:30 am to 3 pm. Cook teams will compete for the Championship. Judging of barbecue will begin at 10 am on Saturday and presentation of BBQ Championship Awards will be at 2:30 pm.
The Williamston Masonic Lodge will be selling whole, already cooked and pulled Boston Butts. To pre-order, message the Pig in the Park Page directly.
Saturday activities will also include food sales, craft/vendor sales and children’s play area.
Beginning at 11 am, the Williamston Masonic Lodge will be selling tickets for barbecue samples. Ten tickets are $15 and include one drink and a taster’s choice ticket. Each additional ticket will be $2 and additional drinks can be purchased for $2 each.
The competition offers cash prizes to a limited number of barbecue cooking teams which are limited to four members. Experienced, trained, and Certified SCBA Judges will judge the Boston Butt pork in this contest.
There is an $1,800 cash purse as follows: 1st place $1,200; 2nd place $700; 3rd place $500. Trophies will be given to 1st thru 3rd place. First place winner will also have free entry for the following year.
